Hi Urvreybady!

So I am currently downloading all 20GB’s of the game, and in the mean time i just want to ask a few question.

What character do you recommend for me to create (I Usually like to be a mage)
And can i make multiple profiles?

Also is money and the economy a big part of the game?
In Runescape (Yes, Runescape), money is a major part of your success, so i was wondering if there are armours and weapons that cna only be purchased wiht lots of money etc.

And finally, are there any tips for newbies like me? I am excited to get going in GW2.

Thanks,
Kev.

First and foremost, to an RS player, please keybind.

—Elementalist
—You can make multiple characters, yes
—Economy is serverwide and a big deal, only split by NA and EU

~The biggest point I can give to a new player is to keep an open mind, which means removing any idea of shortcuts. Only then will you be able to hone your skills and enjoy the world for what it is.

Welcome to the game!

You can try all three “cloth” classes, as you start with 5 character slots. Your mileage may vary, but I’d recommend trying out the Mesmer if you want something unique from other games you’ve played. I’d recommend the Elementalist if you want something that might feel a bit more traditional.

Money is a decently large part of the game, as it is with many MMOs. It really just depends on what your goals are. You don’t NEED money to play the game with contentment.

Tips? Find yourself a really good positive guild of like-minded people. Games come and go, relationships are meaningful.

Play the game, dont just run from heart to heart but complete everything inbetween feel free to explore if you see something interesting.

If you like caster types try an elementalist. Other casters are necromancers and mesmers. Mesmers are tricky, elementalists are more straightforward.

Dont rush, dont get annoyed at first, and if you get lost or confused in the beginning, its ok. I was too when i first started. The leveling experience is different than other mmos.

Other hints, buy the copper tools (sickle, pick, and axe) for gathering. Gather everything. Dont pass up any events that go on.

If you choose charr, definately go to diessa plateau and towards meatoberfest. Bunch of events always happening.

Which ever cloth class you pick, dont always think you need to stay with the same weapons, alternate, find the style you like, same with traits and skills.

Yes and no for gold. No, its not that important as you can get the best armor with karma or crafting. Yes, it is important if you want to change your looks.

Finally, becareful. There’s something in the water…

Also, probably stay away from the super adventure box at first. Dont need to get addicted to that right away.

The hearts are NOT the main point of the game, events are. Hearts were actually added late in the game because people were so confused about what to do. They are more just filler where it’s possible to buy level appropriate gear with karma, not money. So to get to the meat of the game, look for events.
