The OP thought that a girl was playing that cute female char.
Then when they met up in real life he found it it was a man.
Excuse me…how can someone scam you in-game?
Trade by mail I’m guessing.

Hmm, this ios not the right place nor the medium to try and stop scammers. The thing to do is to report them. Try to do it in game, if not possible, contact support through this wesite (but directly).
Though I don’t have any experience in GW2, I have had in GW1. what happened was that I needed nick’s item (a weekly changing collectible that gives presents that week). I was in a hurry, so went to the place where you farm that weeks item and asked for someone to seel the things needed. I got a reply and being in a hurry I didn’t check the trade properly. The item I bought was worthless junk named almost the same. Cause the seller already left town I couldn’t report, but I sent in a report to support through the website with all the dteails I had (my accountname, my charactername, my location, server, timestamp, and a good description bout what happened. 4 days later I got a reply they investigated it and that the person repsonable was banned.
So bottom line, do not put (suspected) scammers on display. You can never proof us 100% here they are scammers. so report it to the people with the power to make a proper judgement cause they have access to the logs, and have the power to smash the banhammer on their head.

Oh this is why goldtrader are sending me e-mails with some money in?
Fantastic…luckly i never took the money inside this mails…the problem is i cannot cancel this mails if i don’t take the items in it.
Would be nice allow us to cancel e-mails without keep the items in it.
Anyway,Anet provided us 2 fantastic security sistems,1 still experimental.
I don’t know if scammers can by-pass this security checks if u use them (even if they have your data).
Sorry for my english.
Regards!

There has been a arenanet statement on this forum that it is perfectly ok to take the copper coin in the gold scammer mail. (just search this section of the forum, it was a week or two ago).
furthermore, there is a way to get email out of the way without taking the attachement. that is the return to send option. Last off all, if someone reports you for scamming, Arenanet is logging everything for those situations. So everything you chat, mail, click and do in the game. so If I sent you e.g. the lover (+100 gold precursor weapon needed for a legendary weapon) through the mail without any reason in game and you take it, you are clean, even if I report you.
A scam through mail is normally done as follows:
- Scammer is standing in e.g. LA saying ‘selling [The lover] 100 gold’ (wich is very cheap btw so that should be your first hint it is fishy)
- You whisper him that you want it, and he say sent me the money and you get the weapon
- you sent the money and the weapon is never returned.
If you report this to arenanet, they will check both your chat and mail logs and his and know very clearly that you have been scammed.

What probably happened was someone claimed to sell some item cheaper than Trading post so they’d ask for a trade by mail or something. When the buyer sends money, the seller just doesn’t send the item.
The trading post gets rid of the need to direct trade with players to sell, yet people still try it and get scammed. I saw several people in the early weeks complaining of being scammed (granted, the TP was down for some time.)
I don’t know that this is what happened to the poster, but that’s about the only way to be scammed other than gold sellers and fake crafters.

@Mercury:
You obiviusly understood i didn’t know what “scam” is :O .
For Scam i was thinking at someone that steal your log data, take your character, and use it.
This is why i told “Anet offers 2 great security sytem”.
Thx for let my understand the “scam” meaning.
Well…scam list is useless in my opinion:this game have the trading post to make safe tradings and personally if anyone offer me some item i would never accept.I accept things only from ppls i WELL know, like legion mates.
Scam..guys,no one in this world (even in a game) give us something for free.
I doubt of evrything and i do many research even when i generally see a good offert (to avoid any sort of bad surprise in real life and in evrything i do).
I’m not giving you the tip of doubt of evrything, but things like a “scam” can be easly avoid with a little of good sense.
I’m sorry if the OP got scammed, but, try to be patient reaching your in-game objectives, and do it with the only help of ppls you well know(legion mates?).
Thanks again for let me understand what “scam” is,and sorry for my english.
Now i log in game, and send back the mail of goldseller with his copper inside(would also be nice tell him where to put this copper…but i can’t :P )!!
Regards!

Yea and people forget that the little box they ticked means they agree to all those terms they never read and then kitten and moan when they get banned for violating those terms.
