Guild Wars 2

During the BWE there was a way to screenshot in HD and normal quality, is that still possible? Because I looked at the control options, its not there anymore after release. I need my screenshots to be in HD to make a new signature.

I’m also wondering this in the keybindings there was an option for high res screens that were around 10mb. Have they removed this?

I’ve heard a lot of people commenting that they want the HD screenshot back. I do too. I hope they add it back in.

Add a -bmp argument to your GW2 shortcut.

For example: Right-click > Properties > Target
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -bmp

I think that only works if you installed GW2 with a CD, because I don’t have a GW2 folder in my C:/ Drive or an option change the target of the shortcut. I got the game client since the first BWE.

It works just fine from the downloaded install, Azure. It doesn’t matter what your shortcut link links to, just add the -bmp to the end of it.

If only it would do -png, then my screenshotting would be complete! :P

But that’s great to know and I’ve just changed my shortcut for future screenshots. Thanks!

Xenolith, the hi-res screenshot feature being referred to was a capability in the BWE clients to take a screen capture at a much higher resolution than your screen. For example, my screen is 1920×1080, while the images produced by the high resolution screenshots are 7680×4320.

I have heard, though it’s on the level of hearsay, that the issues with the hi-res screenshot option have yet to be polished out, so they’ve disabled the feature until they can get it working 100%.

I’d rather have them enable the feature and put a BETA tag behind it so we know it’s still not polished. I’m missing a lot of opportunities to take nice screenshots now.
