Ok until now ive been happy in paying all TP fees and havent thought once about selling through the mail system…however after getting myself a precursor and clicking on the TP I could not believe that im required to ‘spend’ 40g to sell it.

I feel horrible even asking this but what is the official stance on selling through the mail system? Is it allowed? Ive heard issues with accounts receiving bans for transferring large amounts of gold through mail so am I able to contact someone at ANET to let them know what I am doing in order to stop the ban?

Asking feels so….seedy considering my good fortune so im really not proud of myself!

ANet’s rules notwithstanding, how can you be REALLY sure you will not be scammed? As in, you sent the item, and not getting the gold. Or how can the other person be sured he is not scammed, sending you the gold but not getting the item?

ANet has no official stance, per se. You are allowed to sell via mail, but do so at your own risk. I’ve had a friend scammed out of 500g by an unscrupulous individual. He received no compensation and the culprit was seen playing the same scam for several weeks after.

Id like to think my word means something, being that ive played since beta, am established in one of the most prominent WvW guilds in Desolation [FG] (a tier 1 server) and who has covered most of GW2 via my Youtube channel Id require that the gold was sent beforehand but ive no interest in conning anyone.

Thanks for the replies. As I said its not something I feel good about doing but im just trying to maximise the profit from my one and only piece of good fortune in the last three months (I got the Zap from an already downed WvW defender which I find amazing).

history means nothing. I’ve heard stories of commanders with guild tags from known guilds scamming numerous people (apparently they were from a different guild, just the short name was the same).
Last I heard:
Anet does not ban for sending large things through the mail
Anet will only suggest you use the TP if you complain you were scammed

A-net has said they will not intervene or enforce ’gentlemen’s agreements’ so you trade via mail at your own risk. To be honest, I’d say pay the listing fee, and enjoy the security of knowing that no one is getting scammed.

Congrats on your awesome drop, and GL in whatever you do.
