Guild Wars 2

So I’ve been playing GW2 since the beta weekends and quickly chose Jade Quarry to be my home (I have several friends playing on there).

Since the game was release I’ve also now found a home with a great guild and even got one of my friends into the guild.

Now, another one of my friends just got GW2 and is trying to get Jade Quarry set up to be his home but it’s always full. I was trying from 12am – 5:30 am (server time) to get him on there, but it was always full.

So he’s pretty much SOL right? We won’t be able to get onto the sam server, right?

I would check daily, mornings & nights (looks like you are), especially during the middle of the week. Also keeping track of how Jade Quarry does in WvW can give you a hint of when people leave just because of 1 time lows if they are losing.
Thats what I had to do to get a friend of mine on Tarnished Coast the 1 time it finally opened up (after losing in WvW). Just keep at it & it will eventually open up, just be patient.
In the mean time, he can level up a toon on another server & check the server sizes too – 2 heads are better then 1. You can still mail him stuff too even from another server.

Since Jade Quarry is now the de facto leader in WvW, seems like entire guilds are transferring there to hang on coattails of JQ’s success.

It appears that being number one in WvW is a dubious honor. Especially if you’ve been on that server from day one.

I have the same mixed feelings. I cheer TC on in their WvW exploits, but I kind of dread the day they ever win the number one spot.

The problem is that Jade Quarry is always winning.

Well that was the whole point… that we would level up together. If he’s gonna be playing by himself, he would rather not play at all.

Well my guild has been there since day one, so it’s not like we’re trying steal someone else’s thunder.

Wasn’t trying to imply that you guys were doing that HC. Was just saying that if your friend is having problems getting on, thats probably why.

Oh, I know. I was just saying that we weren’t contributing to the problem. I didn’t mean what I said with any bad intent.

Reading things like this really makes me hope that Arenanet isn’t giving up on the guesting services, this proves that we need it desperatly

(for those who don’t know, guesting is a service wich was active in the beta, where you could form a party with someone on a different server and join in on their server (like you now can join in an overflow-map). This system was bugged at the start and is the main reason (I think) that world transfer is still free. Although it doesn’t help you and your friend right now, I do hope there will be a permanent solution soon.

My thought was a referral service to get your friends on the same server. For example, since I’m on JQ, I would have a referral code to allow my friends to set their home as my own home.

But I KNOW that because the people on the internet sux, it will get abused, thus making this idea a mute point.

Well, because of this, I was able to get my friend into JQ! I’m excited!
