Guild Wars 2

So I officially canceled my WoW account and came to Guild Wars 2 where I have several friends who have been here for a few months. After getting the game installed today, much to my dismay the server all my RL friends are on says “Full” and will not let me create a character. I really hope there is a way around this……..

Server population varies according to the number of people currently playing. Check in at absurd off-peak times, like the wee hours of the morning, and the population may drop to High.

For now, you can pick another server and play there. You will still be able to talk to your friends, be in guilds with them, and party with them for dungeons. Server transfers are free right now (though limited to once every seven days).

^This. At some point, they will implement guesting, so that you can play with each other in PvE, regardless of server origin, but for now, try your best to get into your friends’ server. I’ve had several of my friends do this, and they were successful in joining my server.

I’ve had a couple of people I know purchase a GW2 account. Upon character creation, they were unable to join the same server that I’m on. It was “full”. I’m left with a difficult decision… do I abandon my guild and friends on my current server to play with them on theirs? I did see on the GW forms that if I switch worlds I can’t go back to my original world for 7 days.

I read a lot of information regarding “guesting”. It would really be nice to have that function available, or to have the option to return to your current home world and not have the 7 day waiting period.

Any response regarding the “guesting” feature would be appreciated.

guesting doesn’t work right now. have them keep trying to join your server. “Full” is a BS statement. It changes with how many people are on at that time. Have them transfer late at night or really early in the morning. I had several of my friends join my full server. Just have them keep trying.

set your alarm clock at 5 am in the morning CET for EU-servers or 3 am PST for NA-server and transfer then. Server is full message depends on the active amount of players. once your in however your in.

Small hint: don’t put any light on and dim your monitor the evening before. This has the best change to get back to sleep, plus the sweet dreams of sweet success
