I’ve got a quick question on server cap. I am currently on Blackgate and have convinced a couple friends to pick up GW2, only to realize that they are unable to join my server. I’ve heard there can be fluctuation between high and full status, probably based on a cap increase. I am wondering if it is worth having them wait a little while and keep an eye out for an opening, or just have them choose a different server for now.

You friends can indeed join Blackgate. My entire guild of 70 members just transferred to Blackgate.

You just need to have them close out the client, re-start it which then refreshes the server list. They need to check back often for a time when the server pop is High not Full. When it is High they can transfer.

Tell them to try early in the morning when less players are logged in and the server drops from full to high then they’ll be able to join.

Or coordinate a transfer and have everyone involved move to one of the lower population servers instead of trying to force more people in to a place that’s already at capacity.
