Guild Wars 2

So my girlfriend got gw2 and I was told by my guild mates to join sea of sorrows. I got in no problem when I got the game, but for whatever reason now sea of sorrows is always full. Can anyone explain to me the way it works I seen multiple other forum post but they were all like 2 years ago. I wanted to see if anything has changed. Does it actually matter what time she tries to join a full server or does a full server mean full till someone transfers. I also read that we could play on maps together even if we were on a different server. Is this true and if so please explain I would be very grateful.

Yes, you basically have to watch the server list a lot and hope that someone transfers out of SoS. So, a person could be waiting a while to get into a full server.

And yes, you can both play together even if you’re on two different servers. Simply party up together, and you’ll usually be sent to the same megaserver instance of a map. If you happen to get put on two different instances, one of you can just right click on the other person’s party portrait and select "Join in . . . " to join them on their version of the map. This applies to PvE maps and the sPvP lobby (Heart of the Mists). You will not be able to play together in WvW, however, until you’re both on the same server.

Oh and one other question would she be able to get in the same guild as me even if we were on a different server ???

Yes. The only thing that matters for servers these days (used to be different in the past) is that for World vs World, players are divided by server. Other than that, people on any server can play together at all times.

EDIT: Do note that NA and EU are completely split and independent, but that should be obvious enough.
