I checked many topics about explorer issue and I completed with their help all but Shiverpeaks. Weird thing is that I had 171/174 areas done in my achievements log and then, after discovering four more (which will lead me over total number!) I got only 173/174 areas. Anyone have any idea what’s wrong? Last three discovered areas were Shamans Rookery, Ulukk’s Hunger, Lair of the Coil and Griffonrook Run.

Please, tell me what to do – any advice would be appreciated.

Some areas do not seem to count towards the explorer title (I suspect in your case it would be Griffonrook and Ulukk’s Hunger, but I do not know for sure).

An example I’ve encountered is the lab you can access in the southeast corner of Metrica Province (once the gate is constructed) does not apply towards Meguuma explorer.

Best I can suggest is that you double check all of your Shiverpeak maps, compare them to the maps on wiki (just go through all of the names you can see on the map) and make sure you’re not still missing one last area to be sure this is a bug.

I’ve done it yesterday. I spent about 3 hours checking maps in Shiverpeaks if they match areas that many of you posted to give the explorer title – I got all areas that worked for others but for some reason they don’t want to work for me. :P

Try Forsaken Hall (mini-dungeon) and Tribulation Caverns (jumping puzzle) – both are new areas that were added during the Halloween events. Depending on when you did Dredgehanut Cliffs they may not have been present at the time you first went through.

To unlock both of these you only need to walk into the area, you don’t have to finish either the mini-dungeon or the jumping puzzle to get them.

Also Tail of the Serpent in Timberline Falls is quite often missed, it is just to the North of Lair of the Coil – but if you have checked against maps you probably already have this.

Actually, I’m pretty sure Forsaken Halls doesn’t count either, as I remember going through that when I was finishing up Shiverpeak explorer. In my case it was Tail of the Serpent and Lair of the Coil that I needed to get my last two (Forsaken didn’t contribute at all), not that that matters.

So I really don’t know what the criteria are. My suspicion is that anything that is event-locked doesn’t count, but that doesn’t seem to explain everything.

Both Forsaken Halls and Tribulation Rifts counted towards my 174, I know they did as they were the two I specifically had to go back to get before the achievement ding’d.

Funnily enough though someone I was doing map completion with at the time didn’t seem to need them – even though they had never been to either area, they still had Shiverpeak Explorer as completed. We wondered whether this might be because they had finished Shiverpeaks explorer before the new areas were added, whereas I finished these maps afterwards – who knows for sure…?

I find it helpful to look up each area on the official wiki, then open the map that comes with each area. Open your map, and move over to the zone in question and zoom in enough so you can see all the ‘white named’ areas, then start comparing. It should just be one white named place you don’t have yet. And you can do all that without having to travel anywhere.

Thanks, had this crop up for me too— popping over to the second puzzle/dungeon added back around Halloween (Forsaken Halls in my case) solved this. I thought I was losing my mind after I combed over a checklist on the wiki and couldn’t find anything I was missing.

I’d have been lost without this thread/its replies. Thanks so much!

I had all the areas explored before the Southsun Cove and Fractals patch, so the new explorable areas and jumping puzzles doesn’t count.

How I did it was that I always checked if the zone I had completed 100% was square/rectangle shaped, usually if there was some fog in the corners, it meant there’s jumping puzzle or something similar hidden beneath it.

In the Shiverpeak Mountains area I had found 173/174 areas. My last area was Griffinrook Run in Lornar’s Pass; Griffinrook Run is an area that is found by entering a well hidden underwater passage.
Here is the method I used to narrow down my last area out of 174 possible areas: Using the Shiverpeak maps with names for all the areas on a specific map, I made note of any area that did NOT have: a way point, vista, skill point, heart or POI in the area. I knew I had been to any area with one of these 5 items in it. Usually, each Shiverpeak map had 3 to 4 areas which had none of these previously mentioned 5 items. It was much easier to check out just 3 to 4 named sites than those maps with a total of 24 to 28 named areas.
My thanks to all who made suggestions about Tribulation Caverns, Forsaken Halls, Coil of the Serpent and Lair of the Coil. I also needed these areas to complete my exploration of the Shiverpeak area.

Does anyone else have a total of 175 Shiverpeaks areas as you all seem to have 174? :/

I was going to post the same thing…
For 3 hours I tried to find the 3 missing areas for my Shiverpeak Explorer, got Tail of the Serpent, Forsaken Halls but i can not find the last one. I’m at 174/175, checked the wiki maps and online lists and I just can’t find it. If this is a bug or a new area for a upcoming patch PLEASE let me know.

I don’t know if this will help but this is what I did you get my achievements:

- complete map
- go in wiki and look at the map pages and look for areas with no map completion objects (ie no poi, no vista, no sp etc )
- those might be the ones you are missing

If you have 100% of the POIs, then it’s a white named area. You must be glancing right over the name as you alt-tab back and forth between the wiki map and your map comparing the white named places.

I can’t see your map, otherwise I’d offer to do it for you.

Having said that, if you want to send me a tell if you see me playing and want to scroll around and compare white named areas on the map until we find the one that you don’t have, I’d be happy to.

I think many of you guys are making a pretty funny assumption. You keep telling people that it has to be a named area. But just count the named areas and you will see that it is around 25 short of 175, so obviously there are quite a lot of areas that aren’t named. Anyone that has any sense will check the wiki and look at all the named areas to make sure they have those. As for why some people need an area and some don’t, I think that’s quite obvious as well. There are more than 175 areas total. Likely only just a few, so some people need an area and some don’t. Similar to how in gw1, you could have 100% continent exploration without actually having 100%. There is leeway.

I had difficulty flipping back and forth trying to compare the map to the wiki list to figure out what I missed so I threw the list into notepad, printed it and checked it off while looking at my map. From there I was able to pick up what I missed quite easily.

Craigstead and the other new area in Diessa all you have to do is walk up to the gates in both to get the POI.
