Should I be a Norn or Human Ranger?
I think Norn would lore wise, with their spirits of the wild. That’s just my opinion though ^^
I also love the Norn starter pet, snow leopard.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?

I’m not into lore but as a heads up if you want to do jumping puzzles I highly suggest avoiding huge Norn.

My main is a Norn female ranger and I wholeheartedly agree that you don’t want to do a lot of jumping puzzles with them. One of the puzzles in Lion’s Arch flipped my camera around so much due to collisions that I was motion sick after finishing it and had to log off. My Asura Engineer is my go-to girl for jumping puzzles now.
Other than that it is a matter of taste. My suggestions:
- Take a look at the Human racial skills and Norn racial skills and see which appeal to you more or fit better into the type of build you like to play.
- Spend some time customizing Norns and Humans before creating one to see if you can get a look you like. My husband could not get a male human that he was willing to play.
- Make a test character and listen to the voices. The Norn females have a pretty deep voice – it might bug you, it might not.
- Take a look around some of the armor galleries on dulfy.net The Norn male shoulders have a really different scale from the human shoulders – you might like it, or you might hate it.
He might start thinking he knows what’s right for you.

I have a human ranger and a norn guardian. If I had to it over, I would swap them around, so I would suggest going norn for your ranger.
As for female norns … Mine was created with the smallest size settings the sliders would allow. This helped when doing some of the JP’s/vistas you need for map completions. I hate jumping puzzles, so doing the non map completions ones on any character is out-of-the-question.
Norn females are voiced by Claudia Christian, the actor from the Babylon V sci-fi series (Cmdr. Susan Ivanova).
I think it comes down to do you like jumping puzzles. If yes, human, otherwise Norn.

Fixed it for you. Hehe
Smaller races are easier to jump with, true story. But I wouldn’t want to jump with my ranger anyway, the pet would distract me too much.

my main is a human ranger, and my friend made a nirn ranger. personally i wish i chose the norn when i started due to the leopard elite. it seems to suit the class a lot better and imo norn in general suit the class better. due to the culture being based around animals.
so my advice is go norn.
also if Anet release an item to switch race at any point it’ll be an instant purchase from me

Norn have the best cultural armor hands-down.
My main is a Norn ranger, and I’m totally satisfied. I have 100% of the JPs done and all with my Norn, later I discovered that you can use tonics to make JPs easier, it is just a matter of get used.
The norn elites are very unique and fun, the bear form charge is really cool and the cultural armors are also nice.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Norn! They have better cultural armor and elite skills, imo. The shortest norn is about th. same height as a tall human. I enjoyed the norn personal story more than human, and norns have better hairstyles to choose from.
Female Asuran ranger. Get big floppy ears. Jump a lot. Profit.

My main is a sylvari ranger and I have long considered making another one as the biggest Norn possible just to use Signet of the Wild with Signet of the Beastmaster and become a Giant.
