So I just found out I had a festive Nika in my bank and when I looked it up on the tp it was 290g for list and 90g for instant sell. I would list it but there are hardly any listed. Should I list or sell?

I never insta-sell. Never. There’s always someone willing to pay more. So the question is: how much time are you willing to wait to earn the extra dosh?

If you look at the TP history, you can see that four have sold or been relisted over the last 3 months, compared to 9-10 being offered. Similarly, 8 have been bought (or people have dropped offers) compared to 25-28 offers.

That suggests to me that (a) not many people even know it’s available and (b) some of those folks are trading them.

Accordingly, I’d aim for a middle price. Here are some suggestions:

• 99.99.99 — very likely to sell ‘soon’ & you’d net an extra ~9g without effort.
• 119.99.99 — nearly as likely to sell quickly & you’d net over 100g, which is a tidy sum.
• 174.99.99 — the halfway point between the highest WTS and lowest WTB over the last 3 months; it’s likely to sell at that point and you’d nearly double your net (148g vs 76g)
• 239.99.99 — slightly less than 80% of the current WTS, it’s low enough that it would be profitable to flip (although savvy investors wouldn’t attempt that). I find it’s often a reasonable price point for low-volume, high-cost items.

You have to decide how much risk you’re willing to take to earn 10g more versus 100g more, versus the sure thing.

it’s a risk to take
if it sells quick, you can list it, but you always risk someone outbidding you with 1 copper and then you can wait a century, or remove the item and repost it, paying the posting tax again.
After 10 times doing that you’ll propably have paid more taxes than the yield of the instant-sell

I would go for middle ground. The sellers obviously overvalue this item, the buyers want it cheap and hope someone needs the cash quickly. I am not greedy and when I go for middle ground, I always sell within a day. This shows me that I could have got more profit if I had offered at a higher price, or no profit at all.

Your item is something people can wait for. They don’t “need” it, they would like to have it. I’m not greedy and when I loot something I don’t need, I’m happy if someone finds it useful. I got 2 chests this week with commander’’s armor recipes to pick. I checked the market and saw that the leg recipe sells best. To be honest, I’m surprised that people try to sell it for 50 gold, and people want to buy for 8. I wouldn’t even pay 1 gold for it, I don’t know what use it has for them. You can craft exotic commander’s legs for your mesmer, but if you pay 50 gold for the recipe, the whole venture will be more expensive than just crafting ascended legs and turn them into commander’s.

I thought maybe these are old postings, from times that knew no ascended armor, and people just forgot their offers. But no, I chose the middle ground and sold one recipe for 20 and the next for 25 gold. It’s quite possible that they are on the TP for 50 gold now, but maybe I made someone happy with stuff that has no value for me, and I cashed in 45 gold.

You cannot lose here, because apparently, the skin has no value for you. Middle ground is usually the most realistic price if more than two players sell/buy.

Very hard answer. For items like this, the prices are literally pulled out of people’s uhhh….

I would do 250 and forget for a few months.

In reality losing the listing fee isn’t that bad here. Just 12.5g. Just don’t ’ relist serval times

At a certain point (maybe a year from now) I may relist it and finally just take it for myself.

There are very few things that remain unsold for me. The gold loss sucks, but is inconsequential compared to the gold you make by waiting a bit more most of the time.

Can’t win without taking a few bumps.
