Q:
I want to choose a new main to play as. I currently play as a ranger and I enjoy PvE, Dungeons, and WvW as the ranger however, I feel like as a ranger there is little I can offer in WvW. What professions offer the most in WvW? I am thinking about making an elementalist. Is switching to an elementalist (or other class) to feel like I am contributing more in WvW worth redoing all the things I have done on my ranger?

A:
How valuable a class is and how valuable that player character is in a WvWvW situation completley depends on the player and there mindset.
if you want a new character for fun, do it but you wont feel much different on any character usefulness wise.
in my opinion if you still enjoy your ranger then the answer to your question is no, its not worth it.
Ranger is one of the best WvW professions.
One thing to bear in mind about WvW, or any form of PvP is that because you’re fighting and killing other players there will always be people looking for ways to counter popular or effective builds.
Which means the meta game moves much faster than in PvE and it’s unlikely you’ll ever be able to pick a profession that will always be in demand or especially effective. As soon as one begins to stand out people will look for a way to counter it and either they’ll find one or Anet will make changes to balance the game (or it will simply become too common and people will get bored with it) and something else will take it’s place.
So the best options are probably to either have one of each profession and switch between them to follow the flavour of the month, or stick with what you like and find ways to be effective no matter what.
What is it about the ranger that makes you feel like you’re not really contributing anything?
All professions are viable, even after this huge wave of nerfs known as the “build diversity”.
All professions have 1vs1 builds, they all have roaming builds and they all have builds that are most usefull in zergs.
I would say: pick whatver you find the most fun/appealing and stick with it, gw2 has/had a huge skill cap and youll keep improving with time.

This absolutely.
Look at it from a style/thematic viewpoint – what appeals to you the most.
Numbers will change, but the fundamental themes – the visual and aural elements will remain mostly the same.
