Should I play GW2 again? I quit after release
This game has 3 subgames. PvE, PvP, and WvW. Seeing how you’ve only focused on PvE, you haven’t even experienced the other 66% of the game.
On top of that, you haven’t even “completed” the PvE aspect, so really, you’ve only played about ~15% of the entire game. There’s more to it than just grinding. Lots more.
And on top of THAT, the thing about this game that makes it better than others is FREEDOM. You don’t have to level by going from point A -> B. You can do events like you’ve been doing, craft, explore the map, do jumping puzzles, helping in WvW, etc… You’re just used to the traditional routine of leveling in an RPG. I quit after I hit level 80 a week or two after release from spamming CM runs before they got nerfed. I was burned out and quit, until I came back a month ago and started playing again. Pretty shocked at how much I missed out on.

To be honest no. I am hoping Anet improves the game but I don’t see it happening and it got worse with each patch. After what was done to the game after nov I don’t trust the dev team.
Also Mesmer is one of the strongest classes.

If I nearly fell asleep during my leveling, how must I endure it? Also, what is there to do at level 80? I’m just wondering.
I was literally falling asleep while trying to level when I was in the snow area.

There is nothing new after level 80. There is grind of the same content for vanity items. Also that grind is severely effected by DR to make you grind even more or take the fast route and buy gems.
Maybe mesmer just wasn’t your thing. I personally never felt the levelling was any form of grind, at least not until lvl 60 on my third character lol :p
Don’t focus on the max level but instead, enjoy the world. There’s a ton of good content while levelling, that’s just as relevant as it’ll be on lvl 80.

Stop worrying about leveling as fast as possible and just enjoy the game. If you’re not into that, then there’s not much help anyone can give.

Honestly, i’d say no, not at the moment.
The game just lacks that end-game experience that Anet said GW2 would have, i believe they stated that the real game started once you hit 80? That’s not the case.
Once you’ve done world completion on just one character, and done all the dungeons, there’s really not much incentive to keep you playing, you can’t go back and do quests in old zones, because once you’ve 100%‘d a world, there’s no reason for you to go back there other than dungeon access, jumping puzzles, harvesting & guild missions.
There’s not really an incentive to do dungeons once you’ve fully completed them, the only exception being CoF p1, simply because of how good it is for gaining a quick sum of gold, the rest are tedious, long, and fairly difficult to find a group for because of this.
World vs World eventually becomes the same and gets boring incredibly fast (This is my opinion) and just isn’t the type of experience i’m after, so i can’t comment on this fully.
SPvp is again, the same as WvW, if this is your cup of tea, then by all means enjoy it, but it’s just not my cup of tea.
GW2 lacks a real end-game experience, it has little to offer once you’ve done world completion, and it then makes leveling up another character a bore, because you’re doing the exact same zones you’ve already done, without any alternative places to level,.
Guild wars 2 is a good game, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a lot it needs to address.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
So there are no raids and you basically just farm gold and do puzzles/guild missions at 80?
Are there different tiers of gear?
I actually liked the game at first while playing Warrior during closed beta, maybe its because Mesmer’s early game leveling was so ridiculously weak that I fell asleep because of their lack of damage.
How about loggin in and find out by yourself and if you “fall asleep” again, you know, instead of asking others telling you want to think?
Mhhhh look…trollbait…yum yum!
I played during betas as well and when the game launched I had a bit of what you describe because I had played the low level content so much in the betas.
I got over it by realising that there is nothing chasing me and I am not going to be kicked from the game when the beta ends- like I was used to. So I slowed down and just immersed myself in the world. BTW my main is a Mesmer I have been playing since launch.
I can’t help you if you consider leveling a grind though- to me that is just playing the game.
You have it- so try it out at a leisurely pace and just enjoy yourself- if you are too goal driven to do that I am not sure if you will ever really enjoy the game and that is the truth.
The combat is simple on the surface but there is more to it, so you can not really say that you are going to spam the same skills over and over- in fact skill spamming will result in your death, especially if you play a Mesmer.
Combat is situational so you have to be aware of your surroundings and play accordingly.
Hearts are a very small part of the game and their main purpose is to get you used to how Dynamic Events trigger and work.
The “endgame” is hotly debated but the truth is that for some type of players there will never be “endgame”
They stated during development that the whole game is endgame and the down-leveling mechanic supports this very well.
If you expect some magical game to appear only once you hit 80, you will be disappointed.
That said if you like making your own goals you will never run out of things to do.
I have been 80 since Sept and I have never been bored.
It all depends on what you like to do in games and whether or not GW2 offers that for you.
Good luck
Guild Wars 1 was pretty crappy at first, if I remember correctly, but after all of the expansions and patches it was great.
ANet doesn’t have any plans for expanding as of now, since they’re focusing on improving the base game, but I believe they’ll come out with some good extra content in the near future.

Yeah, I might try it again. I hear some of the dungeons are actually hard.
Though, I’ve always wanted to get that raid feeling again in a pug or guild group when slaying an end-game boss. Maybe I’m just too used to WoW’s formula.

Guild Wars 1 was pretty crappy at first, if I remember correctly, but after all of the expansions and patches it was great.
What made GW1 great IMO is the number of different ways you could build your character. GW2 is really a lame duck by comparison. No build depth at all because of how underwhelming most of the traits are. The rigidity of weapon skills also means that just 1 or 2 weak skills render whole weapons useless. Anet have proven themselves to be pretty hopeless at balancing as well.
IMO the game seems to be going nowhere, a hollow, cynical shell around a cash shop.

What ruined Guild Wars 1 for a lot of players was the complete inability to balance the professions because of the overabundance of skills in combination with the dual profession.
For some that was a great thing. Others left the game because of it.

Actually no I don’t mind ascended gear but I do mind the severe nerf to loot that happened around that time which pretty much made playing pointless :-)
PS I have 4 level 80’s and 3 have ascended gear so qq on that :-)
It sounds like you are too much into wow that you cannot complete another game that is nothing like it? If a screen full of skills is what you want then no, this is not the game for you.
Try WvW, you can level in there too if you want. Only part of the game that’s worth playing imho.
So there are no raids and you basically just farm gold and do puzzles/guild missions at 80?

If that’s your thing All that leads to one additional tier.
Guild missions sure have a raid-like feeling, they just happen in the open world instead.

Mesmers are very slow to level until 60 I heard. If you want I’ll craft you a set of pistols and jewelry for your level so you have a bit more damage output. For free Send me a PM

Well, OP. GuildWars 2 doesn’t have any endcontent. There is indeed nothing new with level 80 than gear/item grind and exploration (which is somehow grindy too).

I think you might be approaching this wrong. To me, the endgame is socializing with friends and doing a run with them or guildies. It doesnt necessarily need to be one specific aspect, as long as we are together having fun. If your looking for a solo type style found in FPS games as in " I Win, You Lose" then pvp might be your thing, PVE is Co-Op later on. Map completion is only really to introduce you to the game, its easily skippable to get to the “fun” stuff if you dont want to do it
Endgame as in raids or other things that you ned max level with the bst gear around(or gear from the previos tier) dont exist in this game but that dont mean there is no endgame. it just means there is a diffrent endgame one could argue that wvw is endgame in itself and yes this game is very much centered around pvp, be it WvW or Spvp as there cant come a new tier of gear(if you count ascendd out)(atleast from what i have understod) and most pve content(even dungoens tho to less extend) is something that is soloble but it takes ages.
but then after expericing GW2 or after doing semi-hardcore wow endgame in a long time i came to the th conclusion that any pve content is a grind by there is nothing that cant be fortold and there for you can asy counter it by some means.

Grenth – organised world boss, people ignore this guy because he takes co-ordination and is a lot more difficult than the others, the Irony is people are starting to complain he’s too difficult – al world bosses should be like him in my opinion except the low level focused zones.
Anet have said they are looking and changing the scaling of boss events as they have admitted they are farmed far too easily with no co-ordination.

no Endgame is not traditional like WoW so if you need that carrot on a stick from raiding and the next upgrade then i think you will be VERY dispointed, if your like me and you like creating new looks and getting as far as you can you will love it.
Fractals: unless i have missed it nobody has mentioned this, this form of dungeon get increasingly difficult every time you successfully run it and at some point you will need to get Ascended gear from laurels too, so your ‘’grindy endgame’’ can be this its basically a 5 man raid that everytime you beat you get given more difficult content, these scale to infinity.
this game is not for everyone, the lack of ‘’go here, this is the next big bad boss and here is the new gear’’ turns people off.
personally it turns my digital love on.
now i main a mesmer and have enjoyed every second of it however around level 40 when i got the on dodge trait i became unstoppable, the endless shatter fodder was mind blowingly fun.,

Why not watch some youtube videos, pay particular attention to dungeon running, WvW, fractals, PvP, 80 level zones, world event farming, jumping puzzles and guild missions. That covers everything you do action wise at 8oth level…
Like what you see play…dislike it find another video game…simples…
Try a change of scenery? The shiverpeaks area are also quite boring for me. I prefer maguuma and maybe kryta areas. :p visually, landscape, and mob-quality -wise.
