I just leveled up to 30 and so far i’ve only done the starting areas. I leveled 1-30 doing all the newbie zones (1-15) to 100% (including the cities). I guess i’ll have to start doing my story quest soon, but my question is this, should i keep doing this or i’m i missing stuff not leveling up in the appropriate zones for my level ?

Nope, you’re missing nothing particularly interesting. But you shouldn’t think of it as ‘levelling-up’. You should be having fun, looking for adventure, that sort of thing.

Try all the different parts of the game – especially WvW.

The only thing you’re missing by not leveling in the apropiate zones for your level is that when you fill up a heart, the gear they sell will be outdated for your character, but nothing that can’t be fixed by a quick visit to the trading post from time to time (it’ll probably be even cheaper as well).

The only rule is, if you’re having fun, you’re doing it right..

As Locoman said, if you’re having fun, keep doing it until it’s not fun anymore. \o/

Personally, I like the Personal Story, and if you’re already level 30, you can just jump from mission to mission without the usual couple of levels of exploration/grind in between. If you want the story missions to be more challenging, you might want to do them as you level, however.

When I leveled my alts, that’s what I did. Cities, starter areas, 15-25 areas. By the time I got those done I was either level 80 or very close. After that I just went where I wanted. Most of the time the karma vender won’t have what you want at the level you are anyway. The trading post is better.

If you like crafting, you will miss out on higher tier gathering nodes by not visiting higher level areas. But that’s about it.

I like to store up a few storyline quests anyhow while leveling so I can do them in succession. It makes the story more immersive imho. Also, storyline missions reward nice XP.

Don’t forget to gather everything you see for increased XP and a source of income. Selling gathered mats on the TP can sustain you nicely at low levels.

Glad you’re having fun. That’s paramount so (as others have said, but I want to reinforce it) if you’re having fun, you’re doing it right.
