I kinda regret making an asura mesmer now im thinking about it, since i would probably have bought some awesome exotics/legendaries, and spend all my laurels on my mesmer, but since its an asura, i dont really feel like it, cause the legendaries would be so small..
So my question is, should i reroll my mesmer into a human or sylvari? Most likely human.. What do you guys think?
I’ve already spent around 5g cause of jewelcrafter + chef, just to get the 20 extra levels, and its lvl 58..
I would advice you to start a second character and if you feel comfortable transport what is not soul bound to that character. After you feel comfortable you can delete your first if not needed anymore.

I got no empty slot, and i dont feel like buying another right now..
Well I guess the only thing you could do would move your stuff to another characters inventory or the bank and recreate the character.. However you need to do all the leveling and stuff again which is quite sad…

I have deleted several mid level characters- either because I didn’t like the race and/or class.
I spent quite a bit on some of them.
I guess it is up to you- if you think you will be happier as a human- go for it.
Human mesmers do have a certain something
I have a Human mesmer main and another Sylvari mesmer.
A friend of mine has been playing a tiny Asura mesmer since the betas and she is awesome- he is working on Bolt atm.
Mesmers are slow to level sure but I find them so much fun that this is not a problem for me.
Cooking is only about 2g so if you are really desperate I would say skip lvl30-40 or even 20-30.
If you do decide to delete it make sure to strip it first, even bags and gathering tools and stash it for later.
Edit: I ran into this Asura that looks really cool- I kept seeing her around and it was only after about a week I realised that she has Bifrost- I had been admiring her armour all along and completely missed it- so yeah..

Here’s how I think about it. Right now at 58 you aren’t happy with your toon. Are you going to be even less happy at 80? Will you be less liekly to reroll after putting even more money & time into it? Ditching 58 levels sucks, so does the gold you put into it. But if you aren’t going enjoy it, why keep it? On the other hand, could you learn to live with it, learn to love it? Go to the PvP armor locker & preview everything on your character. Are there sets that you love on your Asura? There are some fantastic looking non-legendaries out there too.

But it is really his whole look with the dyes etc that make it so awesome or the fact that his asura is so tiny and kicks butt so hard
Why do I have two mesmers?
Well I started what became my main during the betas and re rolled her at launch and I really loved the class.
So much that I had trouble liking any of the other classes but I wanted to try another race…. So I ended up with two mesmers.
The Sylvari is currently having a holiday at lvl 60ish because in the meanwhile I leveled an Engi to 80- and boy do I love engineer
Now I’m leveling a Sylvari ranger because I wanted a second Sylvari.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.

If he’s only level 58 I’d say reroll, 5g isn’t little money but isn’t that much once you hit level 80 either, even with the lower ectoplasm price you can probably still make at least over 1g a day out of them by hitting the dragon events and selling the ectos you get from that, and also big part of the “endgame” in GW2 is related to how your character looks, so if you’re not happy with how an asura would look would make less sense to you.
To get a preview just ask someone to post a legendary in char to preview it, and when it comes to gear you can go to the heart of the mists, PvP locker and preview gear there.
BTW; I heard we were posting norn mesmers..

yeah, i should probably go and reroll into a human soon..
i mean.. my plan was just to farm with my mesmer, and a bit wvw, and that would be it, but now thieves got nerfed (speaking about the MUG here) then i don’t really feel like running thief as my main.. <- this is not the only reason, i also want something new.
So yeah, if i just had to farm with my mesmer, a full cof set would be ok, but i think im gonna do more than just farm with her..
If you are already unhappy at level 58, you are going to be really unhappy at level 80. And the 5 gold isn’t that much to make for a level 80. If you are going for a Legendary, then yeah, you will be happier with a larger character.
Try another class, why do you want a Mesmer? I don’t think you ever said
Sure they are a blast but so is Engi and Ranger..

If you want to go for a Legendary and cool gear, surely you should pick a class you really really like to play?
Just a warning- Engi’s don’t have a good deal with legendaries simply because they use kits and turrets so much- and Quip o-o
Rangers have a good choice of weapons it just depends if you like the Legendary skin for your main weapon.
One quick suggestion. If your 58 has a lot of karma and you plan on leveling your replacement partly with cooking. Buy all the Bulk packs of karma sold food you can find around the map and put in your material bank. Also spend the karma on any other non bound stuff. You may as well get something from the karma.

Hmm, i had the same problem (and i am 80) however after getting Volcanus, fused gauntlets yesterday….man i look like the fiery ant of death! its freaking awesome.
Honestly i would stick with the Asursa mesmer, with twilight + Eternity/Sunrise the effect is better i think on the asura, ok so you cant see that sad excuse for a legendary hilt too well, but you wont in fighting with any race – your concentrated on the fighting, the effect overall is better as when you flip / swing the sword your enveloped give or take in the black / whity pinky swing colour which is just bad kitten
Each to there own though if you are REALLY unhappy then just re-roll, really not a big deal in GW2 you can xfer any and all items via transmutation methods anyway so no biggy in that respect (even though you are 58 :P ).
i would advise to level inside Molten Facility too by the way, get a guild group to run through it your up levelled to 80 and you get 88k xp per run (unless this is scaled down?)
p.s. what server are you on? EU? if so when i log on tonight i’ll come and level a bit with you, im leveling another mesmer any who as i love em’ haha and a ranger too so if you want some company im happy to tag in.
Hi Track – if you’ve re-rolled then good luck and I hope you have fun with your new toon! My opinion is that $10 gets you a new character slot and that lets you create a new Mesmer and keep the other just in case you need that cooking skill to support your other toons. Plus, if at any time you want to delete, you have a whole new slot to start a new, completely different toon. To me, $10 is worth less than my time and you spent a bit of time getting to 58.
I know exactly how you feel. Honestly, I would REALLY suggest deleting a DIFFERENT character and creating a second mesmer. I had a sylvari mesmer.. that I deleted to make a human mesmer.. that I deleted to make ANOTHER SYLVARI MESMER. I’m quite insane, you see.
I agree completely about asura. They’re neat little guys but you really have a harder time appreciating the equipment.
For me.. the choice was easy. I don’t like how he looks so I’m gonna re-roll.
As far as the choice goes, I feel sylvari better embodies the ‘essence’ of mesmer. Humans and norns tend to just look like pompous fancy-lads, at least with the more common armors.
So.. I think you should delete a different character (or purchase another slot.. it’s worth it), roll a sylvari, and enjoy the leafy spellcasting goodness.

Asura are awesome though!!! I love my asura mes… she is the one I am currently working with. I am going to stick her in TA gear, i think (either her or my necro not sure and they can’t both have it lol)
i’ve decided to stick with my asura.. its now lvl 72, will hit 80 soon, and buy some exotics for it..
not sure if i will buy the ascended gear for it yet tho ^^
