So yeah, I dropped 500gems on this this weekend, during the sale. Thought it might be a good idea simply based on the volume of items I seem to collect and just decon.

Now, I’ve probably deconned circa 30-40 Rare’s since having this and I swear the Glob of Ectoplasm extraction is far far worse on this than using Mystic Salvage kits.

I’ve not had one rare drop 3 Ecto’s – yet I use Mystic Kits and I generally get 3 Ecto’s every 6 or 7th decon.

Anyone else know if this is the case, or once again like ascended drops, RNG just really really hates me?

I’m feeling a little annoyed right now, simply as I feel like I’ve wasted gems on something that performs worse than the actual kits :/ (and costs me bronze to decon at the same time!!)

I’d have to chalk this up to RNG, unless if there were any tests of this I missed a while back, or if it was bugged or something.

I almost never get 3 ectos per salvage with the mystic kits myself. I’ve actually had multiple strings of 9+ rares salvaged with the mystic salvage kit with 4 ectos or less.

Maybe it is RNG. I know it hates me as I’ve not had anything decent drop from TT or Teq in 3 weeks :/ Fractals gives me the occasional decon ring, but that’s about it shrugs lol

If you wanted to know for sure you’d have to write down each item you salvaged, which kit you used and what you got from it. After about 500-1000 salvages per kit you’d have enough to identify trends.

Anything less than that, or subjective reporting (what you remember getting) isn’t going to prove anything except that it actually is random, and therefore has ‘lucky’ and ‘unlucky’ streaks. I sometimes feel like I go for week with nothing, then I get 9 ecto from 3 salvages and at least 1 from all the others, then it goes back to barely anything.

If it was regularly giving the same results that wouldn’t be random.

I purchased the copper-fed-salvage-o-Matic back before the silver one came out, but I suspect they work the same. I never use this one on anything that I want the ectos from. In fact I use the Mystic Salvage kits on any “yellow” item and average at least 1 ecto plus the runes or sigils from the pieces I break.

I never use anything lower than the Mystic for yellows and carry around some BL salvage kits for those few exotics that drop from time to time that I need the mats from for my own crafting.

However, I always check the market price before I break high end items because sometimes you can get more selling those than keeping the mats you get from breaking them.

My suggestion would be to only use the silver-salavage-o-Matic on anything that you don’t expect to get ectos from.

You can’t compare the ecto drop rate from a Copper-fed and Silver-fed kit, because the Copper one is the equivalent of a Basic Salvage Kit, with a 10% chance to get rare materials and the Silver-fed is the equivalent of a Masters or Mystic kit – 25% chance for rare materials.

So there should not be a difference between silver fed and Mystic salvage kits. Probably bad rng for you.

So, interesting update. Last night I had a fair few runs on Fractals and picked up about 15 Rares. They gave me 25 Ecto’s….Some what of a change compared to before I sent in a support ticket and posted this…. odd..

Yes that is RNG… Why did you post s support ticket?

There is roughly a 35-40% chance that each salvaged rare above level 68 will drop ZERO ectos. Now over a large enough sample size it averages to roughly 0.85-0.90 ectos per rare but that’s because of the 2 or 3 ectos that can drop but in the end it’s a distribution with 0.85-0.9 is the peak.

@Andrraus – Well, I don’t particularly like spending Gems on an item where it’s supposed to effectively be the same as Mystic Kits, but the return rate on decon is lower than the kits. I know there is the “convenience” element, but if the stats are the same, yet the returns are coming out lower, I’d want a refund.

RNG is always RNG and have nothing to do with the item. Just bad luck and it can hit anyone in game and why some get 10 precursor drops every month and it took me 2.5 years before my first dropped and even that was a disapointment because it was the spear.

I have a silver-fed kit for well over a year now and it’s not different from the master or mystic kits for ectos so stop spreading rumors @Mosferre.
