Hey all.

I did search the forums for “Crafting” but oddly enough only 3 results?!?!?!

Has anyone got a link to a relatively simple walk through on how the crafting works and what you need to do to get started in it?

Have you tried gw2crafts.net? It has a shopping list of everything you’d need to buy (with current in-game prices for what you’d need to get), as well as a guide for what to make when.

The site above is great, but more for showing you what to craft to level fast, and assumes you basically know what you’re doing already.
Yeah, the search function on the forums doesn’t work. There’s a sticky (here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Searching-the-Forums/first#post4701411) explaining how to write a google search that will bring up mostly forum results.

Gw2crafts.net is more for power leveling crafting. I think the op is more looking a guid to get started. All the crafting disciplines are similar except for chef.

Your basic setup is the two crafting components and an insignia. You take those to the discovery tab and combine them there. After that the recipe is unlocked.

I guess as Simplesimon said I’m looking for something that introduces me to it, so I can understand the concept and the basics of it rather than spend 14g to power level up right now

Wiki’s probably your best bet, then, though simplesimon summarized the basics well. Make an insignia and two components, then combine them in the discovery panel – unless you want a bunch of a specific item or are in a hurry, repeat for best xp. Don’t try chef until you really know what you’re doing….
Also, the crafted backpacks you can keep upgrading to exotic and give decent xp, so I’d start with that. You’ll need to buy a backpack frame from a master [whatever craft].
