I have a lot of unused skill points. Is there an effective way to use them to turn a profit?

A warrior, a guardian, and an elementalist walk into an open field…
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”

Not really, was hoping for a little more insight.

Like i know I can use SP to upgrade mats to sell.

All I’ve ever heard of really is material promotion.

You can also use Skill Points to make superior siege weapons. Buy the regular ones in WvW/EotM and promote them in the forge.

Hey guys, thx for the input.

Guess I was hoping to find something that involved less RSI <.<

You also need them for crafting ascended stuff :
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Augur%27s_Stone

and for some Mystic Forge weapons. Example :

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

You can use the 10x Clover recipe to get 11-40 tier 6 materials. It is a gamble, but it can pay off.
Other than that, I’m not sure what to use the skillpoints for.

First, make sure you don’t need the SP for something you want (perhaps a legendary? perhaps ascended armor? etc.)

If you do want to convert SP to gold, the method is to make stuff in the Mystic Forge, then sell what you make on the TP:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Mystic-s-Gold-Profiting-Guide/first#post4340543

These are the highest rate ways to convert SP that I could find (currently; these won’t always be the best ones):
promote jute scrap -> wool scrap 1g/SP
promote bronze ingot -> iron ingot 1g/SP
promote green wood plank -> soft wood plank 2.4g/SP
Abyssal Scepter 1g/SP
Azureflame 1.75g/SP (and 43s/token)
Eidolon 2g/SP (and 50s/token)
Feathers of Dwayna 1g/SP (and 26s/token)
Foefire’s Essence 1.3g/SP (and 33s/token)
Foefire’s Power 1.7g/SP (and 43s/token)
Immobulus 5.5g/SP (this is deceptively good… price to make is 800g, and buying 250 giant eyes is really hard to do. if you do this: remember they drop from heavy moldy bags)
infinite light 3.8g/SP (also deceptively good, price to make is 950g)
Wall of the mists 1.3g/SP
Wings of Dwayna 1.2g/SP (and 30s/token)

for comparisons with the tokens: buying rares and salvaging them for ecto gives around 1s/token

making and selling a legendary can give up to 3g/SP by selecting the right legendary to make. But this also includes other things such as karma and map completion, so maybe we can only attribute 1/3 of the total profits to the SP. It’s hard to quantify this, but worth mentioning :P

I’ve been looking into making box of armor and feast recipes to convert SP… some of them look promising (up to 3g/SP) The funny part is that exotic doesn’t necessarily give the most. Exotics might give more profit, but they also cost proportionally more SP. I have yet to try it, and I get the impression it’s a slow market.

I highly recommend spreading out what you convert them into. It would be neigh impossible to sell 5 Immobulus’s, for example. promoting the planks may look great, but it takes a long time to actually go through a reasonable amount of SP (100SP would require 125,000 green wood plank)
