Skill points
Some of the skill points do indeed seem to present greater challenge than others. This is quite noticeable in Orr, but also in a few other areas. I suspect this was done by design, and that ANet does not consider the map completion objectives to be a 100% solo endeavor. Perhaps they envisioned players balked at getting a point solo either asking for help in guild chat or map chat. I see this frequently.
anet, fix this it is dumb as kitten
I hate that skill point. I have managed it get it alone by using a revive orb on my squishier characters but mostly I bully my friend into helping. There is another in Snowden Drifts that I struggle with as a L80 too – the Raven Shaman one. Funnily enough, I have managed to clear higher level zones, including their skill points, as a mostly solo player. Perhaps Anet wanted players to learn to group at low levels.
Ha ha. I just realised how old this thread is.

There have always been a few of these that are not solo friendly. Since this is a MMO, I’m not sure that having a few places where you need to find some help to complete a goal is completely out of line for the designers. Yes, they cause me problems as well, but I usually don’t have a major issue getting someone nearby to assist me (but I can see where this will present a problem when server populations dwindle).
Fate is just the weight of circumstances

most of the ones in Orr that requires to commune can be cheesed one way or another.
SPOILERS AHEAD
the one in the temple of melandru, you don’t even need to enter the boss room closed off by the shield, you can literally take the skill point from behind.
The one in the temple of Balthazar is as easy as just stealthing through, even though in normal conditions you need to go through a massive group of veteran risen that summon more risen.
People don’t know what an Ash Legion Spy Kit is and are punished for it. Working as intended.
OP would probably laugh at his year old post if he/she reads it now, as that Ascalon City Ruins skill point is slaughter-fest for any decent player
as for orr maps, it is usually – “ninja teh skillpoint while champ is not watching”. as soloing them there can be tedious
