So I’m level 10, close to 11. I’ve finished 11/17 quest ( the orange heart symbol ). I tried to search for the rest 6 of ‘em, but I couldn’t find any when I scout through the map by pressing M. I have been walking around looking to see if there’s any quest that would pop up usually but it doesn’t anymore.

Anyway, my ultimate motive and question is to ask what can I do now to level up quickly ? Because my story quest right now is at a level 20+ place, which I tried going there and obviously I died, needless to say. Any suggestions from the Pros and Kind people?

Keep doing the heart quests that are around your level and look for events. You can find hearts that you haven’t seen by talking to a scout (telescope on your map). As for your story quest, wait till you are at least the same level as it to do it. Will make leveling up alot easier in the long run

Finding other heart quests
These are probably in an area of the map you haven’t uncovered yet. Look for patches of the map around the area you’ve explored which are still covered by the fuzzy paint style ‘mist’ and don’t have obvious walls (usually a ridge of mountains) along the edge. Then go there and see if you can walk into a new area and uncover more of the map. The heart symbols will appear as soon as the map is uncovered.

It might help to know that most Zones are roughly square or rectangular, so if the area you’ve uncovered has any non-straight edges that’s probably a good place to start.

Levelling up
What else can you do to level up? Everything.

Uncovering the map will give you experience as will finding waypoints, vistas and points of interest. Gathering crafting materials will give you experience, as will using them to craft.

But the main thing you want to do is Dynamic Events. You should have seen some of these already – they show up on the map and on the list on the top-right of your screen in orange. They’re like quests – you need to defend things, attack things, collect things, defend someone who is collecting things etc. etc.

They start up pretty much randomly and will carry on running whether there’s anyone nearby or not so you want to go over and join in when you see one. They give better XP and usually better loot than the heart quests and later on in the game replace them entirely so you’ll want to get into the habit of doing them now.

The above post is good, but sometimes having someone show you around a bit in game is very helpful, I noticed you post is only a few minutes old so if your on line feel free to hit me up in game and I’ll be happy to give you the dime tour.

Just type /w Nevermore.3820 and If I’m on you’ll get in touch.

Each race has a starter zone like that level 1-15 you’re in. You can get there from the main city Lion’s Arch. If you out level the zone you’re in, you can easily go to a different one (wayfarer foothills = norn, caledon forest = sylvari, queensdale = human, etc)

Also, gather everything. Make sure you’ve always got a mining pick, harvesting sickle, and axe. You’ll see the icons on your mini-map for these things. Gathering gives XP, contributes to your daily (more XP), and can be sold for some decent coin on the Trading Post (TP). If you don’t care about money, you can level a craft, which also gives XP, but I don’t recommend that until you’ve experienced the game a bit more. You’ll need the coin you’ve got at your level.

There are NPCs that can help you find those heart locations you are missing. Look on the zone map for the Scouts. They have little gold telescope icons over their heads and on the map. If you see a telescope icon on your map, that means there is Scout there that knows about one or more heart locations that you have not uncovered. That can really help you with zone exploration.

You have to get near the hearts with you character before they show up on the map. Here is a link to a table of zones (hypers to zone pages that have maps). Might I suggest that you DON’T use this your first time thru an area as it’s much more fun to just explore and find them yourself (my 2 cents):

What Brother Grimm said.
You need to get within certain distance of the heart, before it comes visible. Not sure if this is only for those hearts that are in middle of nowhere as someones seem to pop up in map as soon as the mist is gone.

Just explore and look where in that area you have not yet been. There are dozens of cool events that need a startup player for them.

Actually you don’t need to get next to the hearts for them to show up. If you simply talk to each scout in the maps (they have a telescope/spyscope icon) they will make sure any hearts in their area are marked on your map. Once you talk to the scout, their icon disappears (but they will still be there if you need reminding) that way you don’t get confused and waste time talking to them again. Also there’s no traditional “quests” in this game. Closest you get to one are the hearts and personal story. that being said, you don’t need to try to keep up with your personal story level all the time. That’s just the suggested level for it. Like some mentioned, hit up all the starter zones for each race, if you do all of those you’ll be level 35+ in no time very easily just by those zones alone. You get downscaled if you go into zones lower than yourself so it doesn’t become a boring 1 shot-fest and you still get appropriate experience. I’m on quite a bit as well and will offer any additional help you might need. Just hit me up in game.
