So I am sporting full yak’s the booster omnom bar and full jewelry and I have yet to find any exotics or lodestones from jormag. Been at it for about a week or two… meanwhile people around me without magic find are finding rares at a much higher rate and lodestones.
Without mf on I had found a precursor and almost a lodestone a day from jormag… I am starting to think magic find in this game is total garbage.
So what is your suggestion?
from what i understand, magic find is the percentage chance of finding any magical item. as for what magic gear you find, that would be up to RNG and you’ve certainly run into bad luck for these few weeks.
just wondering if it even works is all
You may want to ask for your thread to be moved to the discussion forum, then!
yeah probably I think I posted it in the wrong spot
I suppose a mod will be around soon to move it… I do think it’s really weird that once I put on the mf gear it not only kittened my hero but made all my drops (blues included) less for a few weeks now.
I don’t think it changes a single thing.
MF doesn’t work on chests, if you got a precursor, you won the lottery, because exotic dropping from dragon chest is uber rare, precursor is 1 in a million.
got it from a drop not a chest
if anyone can explain how this stat works would be nice
because from experience its just looking like the drop frequency for me is lower, and this is over the span of two weeks now after I had put on the gear
MF works on mob drops. It doesn’t effect the forge or chests.
And it CERTAINLY works. I notice a tremendous difference comparing no magic find to full magic find + food
Does MF relly work?
nobody knows…
No, seriously I don’t know just felt like writting that.
From my understanding. MF works out in open world (fighting mobs, mining, harvesting etc.) but not for dungeons/chests.
I have had some limited success with MF gear and in fact, I think doing more DPS/damage nets an overall better effect than having MF gear – what are your thoughts on this?
I have experimented with MF on and MF off and it seems to make only a minute difference in either case.
I have great success with magic find, but I only really noticed a difference once I reached over 130% extra magic find total. (i currently have 160%)
As far as I can tell, it doesnt affect forge or chests, what it does effect is drops from mobs, and it doesnt effect amount, iit effexcts quality.
I regularly get multiple rare items drop from events.
MF works. If you’re farming and not noticing it, maybe it’s because you’re farming, and farmers are always hit hard by DR.
In the farming zergs, you’re not even going to be able to get in that many hits before a mob dies, and there’s safety in huge numbers. MF has almost no downside here.
What I notice I get and what usually happens is that MF will give you a lot of blue/greens because it all counts as magic. You end up vendoring those, so rares are still rare. It wont upgrade your vendor-grade green and blue trash, it just rolls for whether you get a piece of magic gear. Its the fact that you get more rolls of the dice that increases your rare/exotic yield.
