Yes, I want the Pony bow. It appeals to my silly sense of humor and I like the look of the bow itself. I know legendaries are a huge amount of work…that’s why I am stuck with what class do I want to stick it on?

Anyone with a ranger/thief with Dreamer who could chime in with why they chose the legendary on that character? Would it get better use from one of the class over the other?

I have both classes…and I do use a SB on both of them a fair amount of time. It’s the go-to weapon for me for ranged usage but I just don’t know what class to invest the effort into for the bow.

I chose shortbow for thief (I’ll post a screen) because shortbow is actually used in cases on thief, whereas I have never and will never use it on my ranger. You would use shortbow to blast smokescreen for stealth in certain dungeons… (Which is what I do, I can’t say for wvw or whatever).

Anyway yeah.

Teef. Because rainbow pony assassin. Also pretty much EVERY thief build has a SB on swap. Ranger on the other hand only has a handful of SB builds

I am finding that I use SB more often on the thief…and I took a look at the animations today. Ranger was very…um…lackluster? One unipony shot most of the time where as the cluster bomb unipony was amazing to look at! I mean I am getting it for the silly uniponies…might as well get the one that can bounce the unipony and make it rain them.

Should I get the Dreamer on a human or an Asura? I previewed the bow on an Asura but it clips so much However I love the voice acting and animations of the Asura…gah, so hard to choose! And it gets shrunken down so much compared to a Human.

I haven’t tested it on any other race, as I tend to stick with those two…would it look good on one of the others?

I tested my dreamer on my Norn and it was really huge. I liked it but I hated the ranger animations, then placed it on my human thief through transmuting. I’m a huge fan of Asura but the bow I think is just so over the top it shouldn’t be shrunken down xD. I have my bifrost on my Asura, and it’s fine, even if it is a little small. It works fine. I think humans or Sylvari are the perfect sizes and builds for thief.

A Short norn with a small build can look great in the armors, as good or better, I’d say. Their abs are just awesome. Here’s my large norn, but her armor is fabulous.

Apart from the clipping issue, The Dreamer is one of few legendaries that are actually worth going for on Asura, because the unicorns, footprints etc. aren’t scaled.

The reason I went for The Dreamer on my ranger was because it still had 1200 range back then. Now with 900 it’s pretty bad. Thanks Anet.

I’ve capped both ranger and thief and I use SB on my thief all the time, never on my ranger. It’s my choice for ranged on thief. With ranger, I use LB primarily with my build (the ‘keep my pet alive at all costs’ build) and have GS for swap for RP reasons. I rarely use GS, though.

I’m glad someone else wants this bow for the same reasons I do. People say it’s rediculous like that’s a bad thing but to me it’s so over the top rediculous that it’s brilliant.

I’m actually making one for my ranger. On my (primarily condition damage) build the shortbow works, although I swap to sword/torch whenever the enemy is in melee range.

But I also picked her because she’s my main whereas my thief is still only level 15 and it seems pointless to make my first legendary for a character I rarely use. And because her colour scheme is primarily purples and blues, which goes a lot better than my thief who is a black and white charr dressed in dark colours.

As several people have said before, every Thief runs shortbow for its mobility, blast finisher, poison, etc., while not many Rangers use it in PvE.

In PvP, the only regularly seen Ranger builds (outside of Sky-knockback-party-hammer) make use of the shortbow, as it reliably procs spirit effects and can apply a lot of bleeding and poison pressure.

Gear unification makes it very likely for legendary skins to become available in PvP soon, so if you ever plan to PvP at all you should maybe consider the Ranger - but there, too, every experienced Thief you find will be running with the bow.

I saw someone running around with it the first week I played and I knew I had to have it. It’s so absurd it’s amazing!

I like my ranger and I do use the SB more so than the LB…but it really is my go to weapon when I am on thief. I have to force myself to remember to use the dagger/whatever so I don’t get into the bad habit of relying solely on one weapon.

I started a Norn to test and whoa the SB is huge on them; but I have the issues of Norn seeming so slow with the movement. It stowed weird on the charr…like it was floating and just hanging in space on the back. Might stick with the human, but I love the Asura so much. Curse soulbinding!

I wish Mesmers could use SB…that thing just screams them

Once you make it transmute it to account bound move from character to character. Once you find the right person transmutation splitter to obtain all your stats back. It’s the best way to see it on your person.

Depend on what you play. In WvW, there is some nasty Ranger roaming build that use the shortbow, but for PvE the shortbow is bad. For the thief on the other end, you should never use the shortbow as your main, but a lot of build use it as a secondary weapons, both in PvE and WvW.

And you can simply use a less good build with a Shortbow as you’re main weapons just for the fun of it.
