Q:

• /lfg:
When using this command today, I was trying to figure out what exactly it was doing. I understand it toggles my status on/off, but does that command put me into the LFG tool or does it show an icon on the friend’s list/in a whisper, that I’m looking for a group?

• [x] Looking For Group (in the chat settings):
When this is checked, does a chat room enable like “Say” or “Map?” If it does enable a chat, there’s no command to talk in it. That said, does it list what groups are looking for?

• Icon above a player’s head:
I’ve noticed different colored (blue or purple) icons above some players heads. Is this a certain buff or…? The shape is usually square/triangle. It doesn’t happen often, either. I’ll see them mostly standing around in Dwayna High Road, with the icon above their head.

Thank you to whomever might answer the above. I don’t play often, so I’m still trying to learn and mess around with the specifics.

Haven’t checked if the /lfg command did anything. It used to set your status to that and put the LFG icon next to your name(it was blue with the same symbol as the LFG tool).

Looking For Group in the chat settings is to control whether or not the LFG messages will show up in that tab. It is for the messages generated by the LFG tool, it is not a chat channel.

The colored icon you are referring to is a commander tag. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Commander

It’s basically left over from before they made the lfg tool. When the game first came out you would stand in front of the dungeon with that over your head and people would invite you. Then we had a player create group finder website which people used too before the ingame tool.
