I’m currently exploring HoT, working on my masteries. I already have exotic gear and ascended trinkets, but more improvements are always welcome.

One goal I have in mind for now is acquiring enough Verdand Brink currency to get Bladed Armor. This is not an improvement in fact, since it’s exotic, but they look really nice and I think it’s worth.

Any other tips for improving my character?

1) How can I acquire ascended/legendary weapons and armor? Can I reach that tier just by exploring the world map and getting enough gold? Or this requires dungeons/raids?

2) I have lots of specific currency from each map. Silverwastes’ currency, Dry Top, the HoT zones… What is actually worth buying on each zone?

Ascended weapons like armor requires you for the most part craft them and it can be a long on costly process, although there are a few places and events where chests containing them drop, primarily Fractals.

As for legendary weapons (armor is not quite in the game yet beyond back pieces), it revolves around lucky drop, buying off the TP for a lot of gold or a longish process to acquire a precursor followed by a few additional bars to jump to craft one. Or you could spend even more gold on the TP and get one someone else made.

Can’t really answer number two. But when all else fails, the wiki is your friend.

You can also get ascended weapons from completing the Elite specialization collections. It’s probably cheaper than crafting, especially if you haven’t already maxed out the crafting professions. Your choices will be limited depending what class you play… only staff, warhorn, torch, shield, greatsword, hammer and bow are obtainable.

Also, if you complete the Lay Line armor collection, you get an ascended armor box. The machined weapon collection gives you an ascended weapon box, but it’s a more difficult collection to complete.
