After seeing that I could earn an ascended weapon from those collections, I decided to create a necromancer in order to get the greatsword for my guardian. I finished all the story with him, and got 4 items for the collection : armor piece, weapon, map completion and invisible gliding.
However, I don’t enjoy playing necro, it’s just not my thing, and the greatsword isn’t even for that character. So my question is, do the other items needed for the collection require me playing necro? Or can I just delete him, and find the items on other characters?

For example, let’s take the invisible (class) mushroom’s spore. It is the same for every collection, so if I do this on my ele, does it unlock it for all, or just for tempest? I really don’t want to search that mushroom on necro, but if I have to… (same for other items too)

Unless it specifies a class, you can do them on any that you want.

Machined weapon collections can be done on any class as I finished them all on my guardian and the ones specific to the specialization collections counted. My Mesmer did all of the charged components and they all counted. Invisible spore were earned primarily on my guardian as well.

You can find the items on other characters. The things you actually need your Necromancer for are unlocking the collection (getting the first weapon), finishing the specialization for the armour piece, gliding as that class, and completing a Magus Falls map with that class. With those complete, you should be in the clear and able to get the other things with any character.

That said, I wouldn’t go and delete the necromancer yet. That’s an awfully irreversible step, in case you and I are forgetting one other part that requires a direct Necromancer participation!

Worth noting that you have to get that invisible mushroom for each specialization you have, so you might have to do the fight more than once.
