Guild Wars 2

The patch has been out for a week. I play WvW every day, leading a guild and militia and capping many objectives. I see players complaining about getting these spoon drops constantly. I have yet to receive a single spoon. Is there something bugged with the drops?

Have you received your complimentary “Collectible Spoon Box” from the vendor in LA?

You’re missing out on shinies!! Lots of my guildies are getting them so I don’t think it’s that low of a drop rate.

That’s the confusing part. My guildmates said they hadn’t activated that box yet. I picked one up today so we’ll see if any spoons start dropping.

Honestly, I think it’s bugged. Another guildmate who hardly ever goes into WvW said he got the WvW spoon as a drop off a camp guard before he activated the collection. I still have yet to receive a spoon drop in WvW.

It’s just RNG. Near as I can tell, any Guard/Supervisor/Lord can drop a WvW Spoon. I got one the very first night from killing a Camp Supervisor, but no more spoons since.

Just keep playing and you’ll get one eventually.

Ive only played about 2-3 hours of WvW since the patch and have 2. Both from tower keep lords. I suspect magic find will give you a better chance of having one drop. I don’t have the collectable spoon box yet, so you don’t need it to unlock the possibility of having a spoon drop.

That’s my point. I’ve been playing WvWvW every day for 2-4 hours since the patch and still nothing. My magic find is over 100%. The loot drop rate isn’t THAT bad for the spoons is it?

It is just the general randomness of drops that is annoying. I had 2 WvW spoons drop in the first 4 hours playing WvW after the patch. The fractal spoon dropped on the first fractal run I did (level 3).
But the tequatl spoon has jet to drop and I have seen people with 4 teq spoons.
So yes it is frustrating the drop behavior almost seems biased (some people have all the luck, i.e. 2500 hours+ playtime no precursor drops when some people have multiple with less playtime) but then again I have no empirical evidence so we just have to attribute it to random chance.

Maybe your actual MF is the same as that of the drop rate for precursors, and that 100+% is a UI bug? :o

I completed the spoon collection and have received 2 spoons from wvw since then (so 3 total). I just see them as a free 10s junk item, which is still better than the average wvw drop. would like to be able to sell to other players… it would probably sell for 50g right now.
