Hi, I’m hoping I’m not going to sound like a total idiot but I was hoping for some feedback, suggestions.

I’ve been playing for over a year now, am on Yak’s Bend & have 4 lvl 80’s. My issue is this. I’ve never done dungeons but really want to. I’ve joined a few different guilds that promised guild runs that would teach noobs like me, how to become better players and to be able to not suck doing dungeons in a group. Never happened. Tried the LFG a few times but have never been able to get with a group that actually works as a group.

I’m wondering if it would be better to just bank all of my gear (I only have ascended that I bought at TP) then scrap all of my toons & begin again on a new server?

Any recommendations or suggestions would be IMMENSELY appreciated!!!!

Guilds are no longer server-based, so you could join any guild on any server. Try posting over in the Dungeon subforums, specifically here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Mentors-Noob/first

That guild/group of guilds specializes in teaching people who are new to dungeons. There are other guilds who do the same thing; you’d just have to do some poking around to find one that works for you.

Unless you want to move to a server that does differently in wvw, there’d be no need for you to change servers.

Thank you. I’ve tried guesting on other servers but it didn’t work, as the world was always full but will check out the section you recommended!!!

No, don’t move to a different server. The game has Megaservers now so servers are only important for WvW. Guesting won’t make a difference either for the same reason. The game now condenses all PvE maps down to a few. All servers go into the same set of maps and the map shards open and close as the populations increases and decreases.

If dungeons are the goal, and you don’t mind casual non-speed runs, give me a ping when you see me in game especially later in the evenings eastern time. I have 3 others in my guild that love running dungeons and have zero problem with new people being involved. We don’t skip mobs for the most part, and we yuk it up in Mumble (I’d need the Mumble owner’s permission to add someone random, though, so more likely I’d be typing stuff to you to explain fights). It’s not an every night thing but there’s certainly good odds you’ll get some no-pressure runs with us.

One of the three is amassing gold towards a precursor and she’s quite keen on dungeons as one means to that. Me, I tend to drop out after a few paths. Anyway, like I said, just ask to join us when you see me; if the dungeoneers are on, I’ll see if they want to do this thing.

That’s what I thought but people were telling me that guilds prefer you to be on their server. Thought it was strange. Thanks for the info

WvW only guilds do. PvE/PvP mixed guilds don’t. If WvW is important to you then chose a server and guild based on it. If it’s not important, then don’t worry about it.

You can be in up to 5 guilds at a time (you can only represent one at a time). You can chose a guild on your server for WvW and a guild on any server for PvE. Just be aware that if your PvE guild on another server decides to do WvW, you won’t be able to join them.

It use to be a lot more important to be on the same server as your guild as the PvE influence was tied to the server. Now that it’s no longer tied to the server but is cross server, the reason to get on your server’s guilds has been greatly reduced and is WvW bound reasons only. Some people may be unaware of the changes made to how guilds get influence from their members, which is why they are saying that servers are important to PvE guild choice.

Hey there,

check https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Dungeon-Mentors-Noob/first

The Noob guild was specially made to welcome unexperienced players and help them getting better. I’d help myself, but I’m on EU.

If you’re on EU and need help to get into dungeons, pm me.

I’m Donari.5237 (as seen to the left of this post). Open your friends panel and type that into the search/add field at the top. Voila, I will be on your friends list and you can open it any time to see if I am on; it will list both my id and my current alt’s name.

I will likely be around this evening unless I get a bizarre desire to do WoW’s Molten Core on this, the last night it’s available as an Anniversary thing. I’d bank on GW2 getting my attention more

You will find a lot of people like donari and when posting in lfg just say its your first time. I have taken countless people through first run as a guild leader and still do, just be honest about it and dont join groups like “exp 80”, “zerk”, “xyz ap+” etc just yet. Id give you an invite to my guild but we are tiny and that turns most people off. If its something you are okay with just let me know.

My first thought was d’awwww — then I read more carefully Yes, there are many such as myself that are happy to help new players in dungeons. You could craft your own LFG without waiting on others to be available, just put in “New player 1st run.” Or if that’s too long, “New plyr 1st run,” I guess.

Haha sorry dint mean to come off like that. Its def really nice of you to offer him runs and a lot of people dont do that. What i meant to say was there are people like you its just hard to find them, have to tailor the lfg nicely.
