What are some good ways to make money when you’re starting out? I don’t mind tedious activities.

Trading post.

Farm for materials (both as loot drops and from resource nodes) and sell them on the trading post. You’re not going to make very much money at a low level no matter what, though. Best you can hope for is that you luck into finding a lot of unidentified dyes. Can either take your chances identifying them (hoping to find a really rare one) or just sell them unidentified.

Well, as long as the wintersday stuff is going on, you could do a lot of activities and such to get lots of gifts, then open them hoping to get a skin or something (even if you end up with a bunch of sweaters or socks, save them to trade for an unsafe wintersday gift and hope for a skin there). Sell the skin or the gifts themselves on the trading post.

Making money in GW2?
Hmm, let me see.
Loot everything, gather as much as you can, sell all you can (with a profit) on the Trading Compagny, all the rest to a trader.
And most important, don’t spend money on the TC unless you really need it. I’m lvl 34 now on my guardian and have NEVER spend money on the TC so far.

Ooh, and use the waypoints only when you really really need them, like when you die and there is absolutely nobody in the area to revive you or when you want to escape a very dangerous area.

These are the things i’ve been doing so far and i made a nice 4 gold on that 34 lvl char.

Gather all the nodes you see. Salvage white items. Save money by getting item upgrades from karma vendors rather than the tp. Don’t pick up a craft, sell all your crafting materials instead. Lots of low lvl blue items are selling for over a silver now so check the tp before vendoring them.

I was reading that farming for vials of blood was a good method to get money, I haven’t tried it yet, or if its even viable anymore. The guide might be old.

You don’t get a huge profit from blood vials at lower levels. Perhaps a couple of silver per vial. The T6 vials sell for like 30s last time i checked.

Best way to get a lot of cash early on is:

Don’t do equipment hopping. – Buy a set and make it last as long as humanly possible, when you see you get mauled by mobs, then upgrade but try and get a good quality vs price deal on the new set, thus saving money.

Sell materials at the TP and all weapons up to and including masterwork to NPCS -
When you do quests or whatever you will get trophies, and crappy weapons/armor which will 90% of the time never be better than what you are carrying, but in bulk, they will get you some extra cash when sold in TP or NPC. (Sell mats only at TP)

Do event chains – The added benefit of this is that you walk away with tons of stuff, which you can sell on as well as XP.

The higher your level the more money you will make.

Just play the game and don’t buy anything from the trading post but throw a few things on there every now and then.

I always geared myself up with random drops to save money. Been working fine so far.

Save a set of gear drops that are within 5 levels of you, especially blues and greens.
Wear a piece of armor until it’s broken, then salvage it for crafting materials.
Put on the dropped gear.
You can sell the mats or use them to level crafting. You level crafting slower this way, but so much cheaper than buying mats from the TP.

Also, jumping puzzles give decent gear rewards for your level. There are several in Caledon Forest that aren’t hard, and there are also several in Lion’s Arch. I try to run them at least every couple of days to make sure I have decent backup gear for when mine goes. I think I’ve repaired <10 times in the past 2 months.
