Starting to craft
Hi , i have the same question, am also lvl 4o though i don’t know anything about later level gear but should i start leatherworking? for my ranger ?
Many thanks
Each character can have 2 crafting skills at the same time, since we have 8 crafting skills you can make 4 toons and just have every crafting.
All the items you craft can be shared among your toons, so you can craft a legendary in your thief and give it to your warrior for example.
Also crafting level isn’t tied to character level, if you want to make a lvl 2 character to get lvl 500 crafting, you can.
Resuming, you don’t need to worry at all, pick a crafting that you like and if you need/want another crafting make other toon.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Unless you’re loaded with gold, an advantage of waiting is that it gives you time to accumulate materials along the way. You are collecting at most every node you find, right? (veggies/wood/ore)
Still, you can get started and go until you run out of materials for that craft, then switch to the other one and do likewise.
Note that you can add crafting professions through the Gem Store. By spending gems you can have up to four crafting professions active on each character on your account.
Benefits of crafting pre-80:
Lots of EXP (i.e. you gain EXP for each crafting skill level you earn)
That’s it.
Even if you’re thinking about crafting gear for levelling, consider that it’s usually cheaper just to buy the desired items off the Trading Post.
In the end, whether or not it’s profitable to craft pre-80 is a balance between time (opportunity costs) and gold.
