I was exploring Harathi and went into the Ourobore (sp?) Cave, where the Skritt are.

I popped a Lemon Bar (something I’ve use a lot of) and carried on killing. After a few kills I realised I wasn’t getting EXP!!!

I don’t know when it stopped, before or after eating, but I got no ‘floaty’ EXP numbers and checking the level progress bar it wasn’t moving.

I went back to a Waypoint and killed a mob and EXP came back.

Anyone any idea what glitched? While not getting kill EXP I was still getting EXP from mining and gathering.

Perhaps it was just the mobs there that didn’t credit XP? No idea.

I get the same problem every once in a while, but usually I’m in a big zerg when it happens. I guess I just don’t do enough damage before the target dies to earn XP.

Don’t see how these mobs wouldn’t give XP, they’re normal Skritt in a cave, like other places as far as I can see. Thing is, I don’t know when I stopped getting XP, I’ll try to remember to go back there again and see if it repeats or not.

The only place I don’t get xp for kills is on the adds at Claw of Jormag but I think that’s because people used to farm them?

Usually when I see a mob not give XP it’s for one of two reasons:
1. It’s a mob I just killed and it has respawned and I kill it again in a short timeframe
2. It’s a mob multiple people were attacking and I didn’t do a large enough percentage of the damage to get credit for the kill

I find that one quite annoying actually… I remember one of the karka-events in Lions Arch… kept shooting at targets but they just went down too quickly. And I wonder, how do you deal with that when you’re a guardian and you focus on buffing your party members instead of dealing a lot of damage… ?

There is a known issue, described as a visual bug, that can cause an XP bar to stay ‘stuck’ at it’s current progress, even though you continue to accrue XP. Usually this happens when you level (or gain a level’s worth of xp) and the bar doesn’t reset…. at least, that’s the only time I’ve seen it.

Can’t say that I’ve heard of that bug not displaying xp numbers when you kill things though. Might be worth mentioning in the bugs section.
