Strange Question
I do the same thing, i have done it for my four legendarys. After that i just take a week or so break because i feel burned out. Now i decided to craft bifrost but this time i’m taking it slow. I will farm my mats, not buy from tp, not spending a single gold from my wallet.
All I can think of is taking some time to think about each item – what you might need it for and how much time/gold it would take to get it back when you need it.
Honestly I don’t see anything wrong with selling off stuff in the bank to fund things you’re working on. I think of the material storage as a bit like a savings account – I have gold for day to day use and if I need more and can’t/don’t want to farm it (usually because I need it at short notice) I go through the materials and sell them off.
But it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. If I think I might need it later on and it’d be a pain to replace I’ll keep a ‘reserve’. For example 50 of each cooking material and 10 of each jewel. It’s a fairly arbitrary number but usually more than enough for an individual recipe and if I need more at least I’m not starting from 0. But equally I’m sure there’s some stuff in there I’ve never used and probably never will use but I’m holding onto “just in case”.
And of course I hold onto anything I know I’ll need. For example I’m making the Bifrost at the moment and periodically selling off materials to buy stuff I need but I’m holding onto all my Opal, various tiers of Dust, T6 mats and other stuff I know I need for the legendary.
