Stuck On LVL 6 ( Asura )
You could try Harvest, Mining, Logging then Crafting. For hunter (Ranger) I would suggest Huntsman and Leather Work.
[HK] Hammer Kult – Jade Quarry
You can go to another starting zone as well Do a bit of exploration there, as an Asura you’re near the sylvari starting zone so you could pop over there and have a look around?
The idea is usually that you also do some harvesting/crafting a long the way as Lockhart suggests.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
Do you mean you have map completion of Rata Sum, Metrica Province, Divinity’s Reach, the Shaemoor part of Queensdale, Hoelbrak, the lower part of Wayfarer Foothills, the Black Citadel, the start of Ashford Plains, the Grove and the lower part of Caledon Forest? Or did you mean you are stuck in Metrica Province, in the parts under level 10?
Did you know that you can do Events more than once? The Tasks (the hearts) can be done only once per character, but events can be taken part in every time they run. Dynamic Events (or DEs) give nice XP as well as some cash.
The harvesting. mining, logging and crafting is a good way for XP, but it works better after level 10 when you can buy copper tools.
If you happened to be on Piken Square server, I’d be happy to come play with you a bit. I cannot change servers as there is the time limitation because of some WvWvW thing that I know next to nothing about.
Garambola you can buy copper tools from the get go, at least from my experience, I usually have just enough copper to buy them all after the start. just saying
back to topic: like others have said, events you can do more than once, which give plenty of xp to level up with. also complete the Rata Sum map, theres nothing there to attack you and map completion gives quite a bit.
also, do your daily achievement, that helps alot.
oh and if you have a friend who hasn’t done the area, ask them to come along, helping them with hearts (especially the kill things ones) will give you xp.
if you’re on Isle of Janthir I’d run around with you, I’ve just started an asura, he’s now level 10 and I haven’t done most of the hearts yet

I usually start my characters home area till about level 5-10 then start doing all of the main cities. After that I either go back and finish the first area or I start in a new 1-15 area to change it up. I do all the beginning areas, then the next levels and so on. Getting map completions, harvesting and you story gives quite a bit of exp. That way you are not killing the same stuff over and over
The primary means for gaining exp in GW2 is the dynamic events. There are tons of them, and they very often involve multiple branching paths, and are hidden all over the maps.
Some are obvious. Some you have to examine your surroundings and look for hints.
Its all about exploring around finding cool stuff going on. But there really are tons and tons of them out there. Pve is all about exploring in this game. Not running from one quest hub to the next. And there’s things like jumping puzzles and mini-dungeons hidden out there as well.
Try exploring (view all vista’s, visit all Points of interest and unlock all waypoints) in your home town (rata sum). You can also use the the portal to lion’s arch and do the same thing. If needed from lion’s arch you can also travel to the other races home towns, to do the same there. Last off all, if you still need more xp, you can also travel to the starting zones for the other 4 races.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Just a couple of additional suggestions:
Kill more of the non-hostile mobs, especially the ones in out of the way spots. It helps with your daily kill variety, and if they’ve been in the world for a while, you get bonus XP.
Always keep a food buff on for the +10 xp per kill – it’s really cheap on the trading post and it adds up.
If you haven’t been harvesting every node you see you’re missing out on a lot of XP. Crafting also gets you XP.
And as other folks suggested – get your map completion for all the main cities: Rata Sum, Divinity’s Reach, Hoelbrak, The Black Citadel, and Lion’s Arch. You can get to them all from gates in Lion’s Arch.
He might start thinking he knows what’s right for you.
