Stuck on Maguuma/ Shiverpeak Explorer
Im in the same boat. Im 100% World but still missing 2 in Maguuma and 2 In Shiverpeak. Any tips?

Two areas in Maguuma that a lot of people miss are Aurora’s Remains (path right above the skill point in Toxal Bog(southwest side of map)) in Brisban Wildlands and Calx’s Hideout(need to do an event for Pranna to unlock her Asura Gate) in Metrica Province
Aurora’s Remains was also the last area I was missing for Maguuma Explorer.
In the Shiverpeaks, I was missing De Molish Post, east of the Frostland Waypoint and just south of the “Help Explorer Brokkar” Task in southern Dredgehaunt Cliffs. This area is a little out of the way and contains no World Completion items, so try checking there.
I’m still missing one more in the Shiverpeaks, myself, so if anyone else knows of any other commonly missed areas, do share.
EDIT: Just found the last one in the Shiverpeaks. I was missing the Lair of the Serpent, just north-northeast of Coil Waypoint in SE Timberline Falls. The cave entrance is a bit obscured by the hill it’s above. Good luck!

Perfect!
Thank you!
Was missing both of those ;[ lawl
Still need 1 Shiverpeak though
Any and all tips are welcome
I found the last one I needed for Shiverpeaks explorer
It’s a little cave entrance by Scale Strand in Timberline falls that leads to ‘Tail of the Serpant’ area
The most commonly missed locations for Shiverpeaks are:
1. Griffonrook Run in Lornar’s Pass
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Griffonrook_Run
2. Lair of the Coil in Timberline Falls
Bottom right corner of the map.
Best thing to do is to count what you have in each zone.
172 = Hoelbrak (19) + Wayfarer Foothills (26) + Snowden Drifts (26) + Lornar’s Pass (24) + Dredgehaunt Cliffs (26) + Timberline Falls (27) + Frostgorge Sound (24)
Thank you Buuny! Was missing Lair of the Coil and it took me a long time to figure out what I was missing. Seems like the map in the Guild Wars 2 wiki is missing Lair of the Coil.
@junkiesuperstar Glad you found it Yes the Lair of the Coil is missing from the Wiki map. I noticed it the other day and tagged the Wiki image to request a new version, and highlighted that zone is missing. Hopefully someone will upload a new one
Hey Bunny!
You said Hoelbrak has got 19. But i can’t find more than 18 on my and wiki’s map. If Hoelbrak has got 18, then one of the other regions has got one more, because of the sum of 172 in Shiverpeak. Can you Help me?
(edited by Pandha.9732)
ok, Hoelbrak has got 19, because the home area (above the great lodge) is counted too. I miscounted in Dredgehaunt cliffs
this list of all locations in shiverspeak helped me:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/shiverpeak-explorer-missing-one-area-listed-all-171-that-I-have/first#post206868
@Pandha, yes Hoelbrak has got 19. All my counts are exactly correct. Did you find the area you were missing?
I had missed Cupular Fells in NW Mount Maelstrom as i had forgot to do the jumping puzzle when i was there. 165/165 now thanks to the comments posted here as well as http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Bluestone/Explorer
Hey Guys!!! Thankyou very much! I was missing that Lair of the Coil too! And I killed that Troll champion like 4 times!
Hey Developers, could you guys please place a Point of Interest there? It REALY would help know that it IS there

Bump this old thread.
So i got those two locations but i’m still missing one in Maguuma explorer i’m stuck at 165/166 any idea on what i miss?
Here are some easy-to-miss areas, not all count toward explorer achievement
And an album I just created: http://imgur.com/a/6xaVpMetrica Province: Calx’s Hideout (hidden area, entered through chain event at Parnna’s Gate)
Brisban Wildlands: Aurora’s Remains (Just beside the skill point challenge, there’s a small chain event inside with a champ at the end, recommended 2 players)
Mount Maelstorm: Magmatic Conjury (a small cave beside the camp of Magmatic Waypoint), Diedre’s Steps (contains a jumping puzzle called “Hidden Garden”, more info on wiki)
Lornar’s Pass: Griffonrook Run (Entered through False Lake, contains a jumping puzzle)
Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Oh, how I hate this map): Ulukk’s Hunger (Could be entered in personal story by Charr and Norn, but the area can be obtained by the cave entrance), Forsaken Halls (Mini dungeon, can be entered through a event which starts by a Priory researcher at Travelen’s Steading), Tribulation Caverns (entered through a small cave at the corner of the end of vista jumping, contains a jumping puzzle), and also De Molish Post if it isn’t obvious enough.
Timberline Falls: Tail of the Serpent and Lair of the Coil
I had trouble finding them all just a few weeks ago, hope these would help.
Old post.
I was in the exact same boat, I finished Shiverpeaks by accident with an alt and tried uncover all the jumping puzzles (caught Dierdre’s steps for 165/166 Maguuma) and thanks to Rannulf for the thread bump and Recycle for the post I now have 166/166 Maguuma. I had no clue that Magmatic Conjury was there.

I got both of those, yet I am still missing two.
Annoying.
Do you even lift, bro?

First off all I’m assuming you did get 100% on all shiverpeaks maps?
if so this is a list of places wich are not needed to visit for 100% map completion. best is to check them all.
Wayfarer Foothills:
- Doldenvan Passage
- Moleberia
- Shamans Rookery (mostly discovered without ever entering)
SnowdenDrifts:
- Griffon fall
- Jotun’s Vista (center of the map, though the heartgiver is elsewhere, you have very very likely entered this for a heart)
- Molengrad, again the heart giver is elsewhere but you likely visited this to fill in a heart
(Snowden Drifts has one of the least straight edges, making a lot of people imagine they must look here, but if you did 100% and did Griffon Fall you very likely has done all)
Lornar’s Pass:
- Griffonrook Run
Dredgehaunt Cliffs:
- Betrayal Grounds (it’s a very common area to pass through, not very likely you missed it)
- De Molish post
- Forsaken halls (cause added later, im not sure it is needed, pls lemme know if it makes a difference)
- Heimdahl’s Last Stand (again an area you very likely passed through whendoing map completion)
- Rat’s Run (and again, you prolly passed through this one as well)
- Tribulation Caverns
- Ulukk’s Hunger (possible you’ve been here for a quest, but might worth checking.
Timberline Falls:
- Sector Zuhl (you prolly visited this when filling a heart)
- Bynebrachen (likely to have passed through allready)
- Pythian Point (likely to have passed through allready)
- Tail of the Serpent
- Lair of the Coil
Frostgorge Sound:
- Rime Moraine
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
It was the bloody things added in the Halloween event in Dredgehaunt Cliffs.
Thanks for the help. I just wish there was a title for exploring all of it or something now… lol
Do you even lift, bro?
Having same issue… I’m missing two… definitely got the griffon and the snake. All my stuff is showing 100 completion… any ideas?
Bumping this instead of making a new thread cuz i think this one has some good tips…. None of the areas mentioned here were the ones I’m missing, but they are good tips nonetheless!
Here is my problem: I’m at 174/175 for Shiverpeaks and am going nuts not being able to find the final missing piece. I already have commonly missed ones like Griffenrook, Ulukk’s Hunger, Lair of the Serpent, Forsaken Halls and others mentioned here. I have 100% completion on each zone’s map, so what I was initially doing to check was cross referencing the list of areas within each zone (using the wiki page linked in this thread) and looking for spots that ONLY have a jp or nothing listed in them (I did all the jp). In theory, I should have already “discovered” anything with a wp, poi, vista, etc. No luck with cross-referencing. I must be counting wrong when I compare the areas on my map to the total number each map should have. I’ve done it three times. Instead of something hard to find, I am starting to worry I’m missing something painfully obvious. lol. I’ve searched a dozen other forums and threads here in the gw2 forums. Alas.
Any ideas on what I’m missing? Areas/instances that were added with living stories or otherwise added late in the game?
I was stuck at 173 for the longest time and it turns out I was missing Cragstead. For those that were “early explorers” like myself (meaning I started playing GW2 at launch and had completed Wayfarers within a day), check into it if you’re missing a Shiverpeaks area. I had assumed Cragstead didn’t count for exploration since going into the instance did NOT trigger a “discovery” of the area for me (I thoroughly explored it, determined to get my world completion). I had got the skillpoint in the cave under the instance like 2 years ago so… yeah, I had no reason to go back there on the same character. But I stumbled in there by accident last nigh and was surprised to see that I “discovered” Cragstead in doing so. I had to go in the cave with the skillpoint though, NOT in the instance itself. It’s the one near Solitude wp.

If you are still missing an area name for the explorer achievement try looking on all the maps for grayed out areas for your character(s). If you have more than one character this can be a chore. If nothing shows up that way you can go to the wiki maps and find areas that have no poi, wp, skill point or heart. Then go to your character’s map and see if the area name shows up. Again a chore if you have more than one character.
Good luck.

Thanks for the tips! I had already done this for my main character, the one who is farthest along in map completion, with no luck. I have multiple lvl 80 characters, so this would have been a real chore indeed had I needed to do it for all of them!
Luckily, I just found my missing piece: motherfracking Tribulation Caverns…!?!?! Argh! I had already done the jp and I know I had already “discovered” this area and come out the other side where the skritt are. All I can think of is that I explored it so early (I had a 3 day headstart or whatever they called it), that they were sill working out bugs maybe…. and/or somehow when the achievement system was added/updated, it didn’t tally up correctly…? I dunno, but this area was nothing new to me. Both my first characters were Norn, and I had done most of Shiverpeaks so long ago that if there was something “weird” that happened, or didn’t happen, when I was initially exploring, I’m sure I wouldn’t have noticed.
It never fails that as soon as I ask in the forums, I figure it out on my own. LOL. Now to finish the wvw map…
