Hello, when browsing precision runes to build gears for my newly 80, I’ve taken an interest in this rune of ranger. However, its last option grant 5% damage bonus when I’m with a “companion”. My question is, what is this “companion”? Is that ranger/necro pet, or party member, or just an ally nearby? And does that “companion” have to be alive for me to receive the bonus?

Companion as far as I am aware for that rune means your pet. I use them on my Exotic 80 set and have tested the damage to some extent, and I have noticed that it does still give you the damage bonus even if your pet is “dead” but if you de-summon it, the bonus goes away for the first attack until if comes back.
