Guild Wars 2

Just got the game today, and I have been trying to get onto the Tarnished Coast server, since my brother is playing there. However, it always says that the server is full. So my question is, does the Tarnished Coast server change from “Full” daily, or is there certain parts of the week that I should try getting on there? And what time of the day should I be trying to join it?

I’ve been on it since launch so I am unsure of phases of status for it. However, I’ve seen others posting about wanting on and the usual advice seems to be to try early in the morning, maybe 6 am Eastern? That assumes that it has to do with server load rather than with number of accounts registered to it.

Also, I’ve seen rumors that they occasionally increase server size with large updates. So check right after a patch.

Meanwhile, you can guest over to Tarnished Coast from another server. You won’t have access to your brother’s guild bank and you won’t be able to join TC’s WvW but otherwise it will be much as if you were actually on the server. If you do that and later find TC has opened, it will cost you money to do an actual transfer.

I’ve heard that TC is the “Unofficial RP Server”, and I really wanted to get into RP for GW2. Plus a lot of people from another MMO on a particular server had all decided together to there, me being from the same server. I guess the best thing I can do is just get guested. However, it kinda sucks cause I also have another friend getting the game today who was gonna join my brother and I on TC.

During the week, early mornings 2-6 AM NA time (CST b/c thats my time zone and I’m not sure where in the US you are). Morning can be a bit hit or miss though. Afternoons it usually opens up again between 11 AM and 3-4 PM. You’ll probably have better luck during the afternoon. Weekends are kind of tough to guess if we’ll see it drop to high at all, it depends on who we get in the WvW matchup on reset.
Also check up on TCGW2.com. Thats our server forum, usually a few people try and keep everyone up to date on High vs Full times for those trying to transfer over.
