Crystal Desert
The Aetherblade diving achievement...
Crystal Desert
I’ve tried several times and got splattered as well… It is the last dive I have to do to get the achievement… but I have given up on achieving it. You could look at video on the internet that shows how to.
It’s actually not that sadistic. The jump in Dry Top seems to be more difficult, judging from other people I ported up there.
If you stand on the top platform and turn the view so that your character looks straight at the little pipe you used to jump on the top platform, the direction to jump is 90° to the left. Just run off the platform, don’t jump very far. You can more or less just drop down to the pool.
I can help/show you ingame if you want.
Yes, think I am with you Ghis. Even with the vid it’s too crushing to die on the jump.
The reward does not meet the challenge.
Crystal Desert
Dry Top? It’s not needed for Dive master though, and between you and me, not sure why anyone who wasn’t chasing achievements would willingly do JPs.
From the one in the dark in LA to the Southsun JP, there have been plenty that have made me want to punch my dog, but nothing like this kitten.

It’s actually what I do with most of my time in the game. But admittedly it depends very much on the class you’re playing. Mesmer and I hope they bring many more like the one in LA or he golden lost badges in Silverwaste. :>
If you’ve done them a couple of times, they don’t look so sadistic anymore. I like them all.
Do it on an asura.
I went with a guild-pack of mesmers. I tried several times on a the shortest sylvari and kept hitting my toe on the final pipes. Two of my guildies (on asura) got it, first try. I switched to asura… and completed.
Another tip: it helps to have a group member IN the puddle you’re diving into. Having that reference point to aim for is good.

Same here. Jp’s are challenging, it’s a nice break from fighting and the views at the end are usually great.

That’s curious, because the hit-boxes are supposed to be the same for all races.
@DresdenAllBlack – I’ve done that dive before, and as other people have offered here, I’m happy to help you with this too.

Likely it’s more related to the view. Asura are smaller so you can see better when to jump. And for me, I’m more careful on my smaller Asura because she is smaller than the others even though I know she has the same footprint as a Charr.

For the record, my mesmer is a Charr.
As for the last jump, the one from the last but one platform to the little pipe, I find it easiest with first person and turning the camera to the ground. So you know when the pipe is below your feet. Problem as a Charr is that you cannot see where you’re jumping anymore after you’re halfway up since your head is above the texture.
The Spider Queen solo is easier than this jump lol

Enter the council level in Rata Sum, then jump off the side and try to make it all the way to the bottom of the city without hitting anything on the way down. I find it excellent practice.
You can move slightly in all directions while falling, which you need to use to your advantage to stick the watery landing in this jumping puzzle. For the record, it took me 4 attempts to land that dive.

One more tip: add swiftness before you jump. It’ll help you get away from obstacles. This is particularly helpful with the Dry Top jump.
