The Battle of Fort Trinity
Free as the wind and subtle as the rain upon my leaves.
That IS the shortest path to Fort Trinity, but you won’t get access to that portal until AFTER you complete this mission. You must travel by land to reach the Straits of Devastation map.
From Lion’s Arch South exit go all the way thru Bloodtide coast (keep heading South) in to Sparkfly Fin. Straits of Devastation is beyond the Southern most exist of Sparkfly Fin. Keep traveling via land in Straits (Eastern part of the map) and you will reach Ft. Trinity.
Alternate route (that is likely where previous Personal Story Missions took you) is South from Hoelbrak across Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Keep South) and then South across Timberline Falls to Mount Maelstrom. Entrance into Straits very near Ft. Trinity is in Southwestern corner of Mt. Maelstrom.
Again, once you complete the Battle mission, you will have access to 3 portals in Ft. Trinity that connect to the 3 Orders home bases. There is no direct portal to Lions Arch, but the Eastern most portal exit (to Lornar’s Pass) in LA takes you very close to the Prior portal to Ft. Trinity (likely the gate you are looking at and cannot access yet).

Fort Trinity is in Straights of Devastation. If you were farther along in your personal story you could actually go through those gates to get to Fort Trinity. So marking that as way to get there is misleading in the least. You must travel through Bloodtide Coast, then Sparkfly Fen to get to Straights of Devastation either by running the whole way or by using any way points you already have along the way. Once you get your personal story up to level 76 (or maybe 72) you will be able to travel directly to Fort Trinity from any of the 3 order’s headquarters.
Oops, I see that Brother Grimm gave a much more thorough answer already. Good luck.

Thanks. It’s just very very misleading. Least I know where to go now and I have a way point down in sparkfly fin from going that way for some rp with some fellow guildies at one point. Should make it a little easier to get down to it.

Yeah unfortunately the quest marker system is designed to factor in asura gates and doesn’t recognise that this particular gate can’t be used until after the quest it’s sending you to.
But fortunately it’s only a problem for that one quest. After that the gate becomes accessible (as do the two in the other Order bases) and the system will be working properly again.

There should still be one of those portals in LA…..getting to Orr is a PitA.

I forgot, but wasn’t there a time when the two other Orders wouldn’t let you in their Asura Gates for some odd reason?
