Hello. I got a precursor today, The Legend. With the new expansion coming out soon, what is the best move? Sell it now? Sell it later? Make the Bifrost now? Thanks.

I don’t think there is a “best” move — it’s speculation to guess as to whether people will prefer to make legendaries the legacy method (the only one available now) or use the new method. If you aren’t interested in Bifrost for its own sake now, then I’d recommend selling the precursor at an aggressive price. Alternatively, if you are looking for a big project, finish forging the legendary and sell that.

Here’s some “data” that might be of use to you:

• Precursor & legendary prices dropped dramatically when ANet announced the new collection-based method of obtaining legendaries (plus all-but guaranteed new skins).
• Prices have recovered substantially since then, with more precursor and legendary buy|sell offers somewhat below their peak prices and still trending upward.
• No dates for HoT have been announced and many believe that it won’t be any sooner than late August.

tl;dr bird in the hand is worth a pretty penny.

If you want the Bifrost, make the Bifrost
If you don’t want it, sell The Legend
Nobody can predict what will happen with precursor prices at release (I expect not a lot of change tbh, because the precursor scavengerhunt will be hard enough)

Question: Do you want bitfrost?

If the answer is yes, then make it.

If you don’t want it you are better off selling the legend at some points. The question is if it is better to sell it now or later. With the expansion there are three possible outcomes.

a: (existing) precursors will go up in price. This might happen if the existing precurors are used in crafting the new legendary’s, but that is pure speculation. There is no indication that it happen.
b: they go down in price. The expansion will have precursor crafting as a mastery track. This might mean that obtaining a precursor will become easier, the later is speculation, but the mastery track is confirmed.
c: they stay the same in price.

Only if it would be a (the price goes up), it would be profitable to sell later. But looking at the current facts it is more likely to be b (price goes down) or c (pricer stays the same), cause we know that mastery track is coming.

all in all, it is speculation, but given the things we know now for sure, it is more likely better to sell it now.
