Hello everyone, I need a little advice.
I am new to the game and enjoying so far… I have a problem with a part of my storyline “The Rescue”. I’m a level 9 thief-woman… and I can’t really manage to beat Pete in this story. I tried different weapon sets and I try to dodge, but the guy is always healing himself and I keep on failing (this part is meant for a 8 level…). Besides the fact I don’t know anyone on my server, I would like really like to finish it alone … any tips for a thief on this? Thank you in advance!

Try using offhand pistol and w/e you want as mainhand. Use Black Powder (#5) on Cooldown and only use that with your auto attack no other skills. Keep Pete in the Black Powder that way all his attacks miss.

Consider using #4 Pistol to interrupt his healing…..(don’t recall what he uses, might not be possible).

Use the trading post to buy a minor rune of fire, Hoelbrak, ogre and strength which will give you an additional 40 power which should be enough to make things a lot easier.

If you ask in map chat for help, you will probably get some volunteers. People are usually pretty nice in GW2.

Best advice ever for a new player.

It’s not easy to ask for help and one might not get it but most of the time someone will help.

The other part that made this a better “help” was the fact that you gave a specific piece of equipment and/or mechanic to help that player up his power to be able to do it with or without help.

Getting a couple of levels past the target of any “personal story” will also help – even to the end of the game and then going back after spending time in WvW, PvE events and PvP.

Have fun all!

Thank you all. I will try again following your tips.

If I fail again, I will ask help, as suggested, or I will do something else till I get stronger.
Thanks!
