The class for old players
Definately look at Warrior or thief. Those two classes only have one special ability outside of the normal keybinds so you will have to use less handiwork.
I would recommend warrior since you can get away with using passive ability signets most of the time in PvE in your 7,8,9, and 10 slots and only have to worry about using your 1-6 number keys for abilities. Try using a greatsword for your main weapon and I think you’ll be happy with the amount of kitten you can kick.

War doesn’t determine who’s right, war determines who’s left.
yeah, tried Thief and by the time I knew what the kitten was going on I was dead and so I was thinking that something more forgiving than that was in order… haha.
I’d probably recommend a Ranger or a Guardian. I never found myself being particularly frantic with either of these classes.
As for being easy on your fingers. I might recommend trying some specialized gaming peripherals. Several companies provide more ergonamic options to put more keys at your fingertips, but it also makes it a little less stressful on the joints if you’re willing to throw a bit of money at the problem.
The few I can think of off the top of my head:
Razer Naga mouse
Razer Nostromo gaming keyboard
SteelSeries Merc Keyboard.
Thief, from what I hear, can be as bad as elementalist in terms of difficulty/reflexes required to stay alive. Try warrior or ranger- both tend to be more forgiving, and though the ranger’s a medium armor class, a good tanking pet like a bear can add a lot of survivability. As for guardian… it seems to be on the fence, from what I hear. Lots of blocks and heavy armor, but a low HP pool. I think the best thing you can do is to try all of those classes and see what suits you best.

warrior is probably your best bet.
High hp
High armor
profession mechanic requires very little work compared to most classes (basically a bar fills up, and when you want you can push F1 in order to activate it.)
I would recommend perhaps using a rifle, longer range usually allows for slower reactions without screwing you over too much.
Yeah, Warrior or ranger.
They are both very durable and forgiving. Warrior the most of them, but it requires close combat wich is more tense for the fainthearted people. Ranger requires a bit more reflexes, but you will be a bit more away from the heat.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
What about Engineer. Can’t imagine they do a whole lot haha.
Guardian CAN be quite frantic… You try keep your party topped up
on regen, protection and all sorts of other boons, while dodging, healing
yourself, then dodging, attacking and keeping an eye on peoples health etc.
But hey! Maybe I’m just a bad player.
get a logitech g600. you can access the full skill bar and the f-num bars using your thumb only
If i were in your shoes I’d go Ranger, they’re pretty easy and they’re getting some love in the next patch which is always a good thing.

@trinzen
From one old geezer to another, play a Ranger! Great class for solo PvE or in a group. For PvP (I don’t PvP) it seems a bit weak, according to all the whinging on the Ranger forum. The class is due to receive a much needed update soon…
Cheers!
Mesmer.
It makes the kiddies cry.
You know what I mean.
Wow! Thanks for the great feedback!
Warrior or Ranger.
Ranger is easier on solo PvE with less key strokes but pretty weak in terms of speed of kill compared to Warrior. eg. Ranger – send in pet, autoattack with shortbow. If you build right you can often kill the mob before the pet loses aggro and it comes after you.
The build and choice of weapons also makes a big difference. Get the best gear for your level and don’t forget to eat food and fill your upgrade slots.
All the other classes are very much more skill dependent (don’t know about Guardian haven’t played one).
