Thief, Mesmer, or Elementalist?

Currently I have a Thief at 60 for WvW, built full glass cannon.
A Mesmer at 45, same setup. I went for max DPS/Burst.

I love the Thief for it’s mobility inside and outside of combat, but once I’m focused just a littlebit, I go down in 2 hits. With Mesmer, I can take quite a few hits, clones are great, but outside of combat, it’s slow as hell and I’m always the last at zergs.

However, I had an idea to start an Elementalist too. I like how it’s complicated. Great mobility in and out of combat, but not sure of the damage.

I would like to hear your opinions about these 3 classes, any advice?

Since you already have a thief and mesmer, get those up to level 80 first before making an ele. If you want to pick one, it obviously depends on your play style but also what role your guilds needs you to do. Thieves are great at roaming solo or in small groups but they don’t contribute as much support to your main zerg.

A thing I found a lot about Thieves or people wanting to play thieves.

They complain they die a lot if they built Glass Cannon Backstab and asked why I didn’t die as much so I asked them a question have they put points into Precision and if so why?

If your going to go Glass Cannon Backstab as I assume you are by “Glass Cannon” when you have your traits at critical 30 consider Hidden killer – 100% critical hit from Stealth so you won’t need Precision so much. I chose to put it into Vitality and as such equipped Runes of Wurm to enhance this (Vitality + Crit damage %) it helps you live a little longer.

Though I was running with a lv 11 Mesmer in WvWvW and I thought personally it was brilliant so I’d recommend Mesmer over Thief, pulling groups off of walls and cliffs is more fun than people give it credit.

Yeh I agree with ChapDev. Why spec/gear into Precision when you can trait so your crit chance is high with position and/or stealth. I chose Valkyrie gear over beserker for that reason.

The signet that fully recharges your endurance is brilliant too if you mess things up. Gives you four evades to get away.

toughness vitality are king in wvw! even on a burst character. I’d bare that in mindwhen making a decision. I play a thief but have a mesmer amongst a few other alts.

I’m eager to play a ranger after seeing a guildy play his and absolutely decimate people.

ele’s probably are the most escapable class at the moment even more so than thieves. but as people have said unless your level 80 i wouldn’t worry to much about wvw I’d make the leveling process your priority.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

That 100% crit thing is a good idea, gotta admit that.

The thing with WvW is I love it. It’s more tactical than sPvP, bigger. With my lvl45 Mesmer I can take 2v1 already, and win it. I know at lvl80 I get better gear and etc…

Still thinking about Elementalist tho, that attunement faceroll is epic, and I like how it’s a littlebit more complicated than anything else.
But on the other hand, if I switch for Elementalist, my “to lvl80” progress will be delayed again. I’m a person who likes to play a main for thousands of hours, but so far, I could not find the class that could give me that many hours free from boredom.
