Guild Wars 2

Hi!

I need your opinion on those 2 classes.

I already have Warrior, Guardian, Ele, Ranger, Mes (not 80) and Necro (not 80) and I just got another character slot up. lol

My game-style:

Since I almost use my Warrior everytime (yeah, it’s a zerker, Axe/Axe + GS and Sword/Shield + GS on WvWvW) and is mostly on PvE, you can tell that I tend to use damage over support.

So, I am slowly mixing WvWvW into my gameplay, since PvE rather bores me now, what class would you recommend that might suit/closely suit my style?

It really depends on what kind of damage you want to be doing.
I play both a Thief and an Engineer, amongst a lot of other classes (I have three sets of t2 cultural armour).
As Thieves are “usually” build as a burst damage build, where you are repetitively doing a lot of damage, then waiting around in stealth to gain initiative or health back, and then repeating.
Engineers are more of a constant damage. While you can build them as a burst damage build, you don’t have the aspect of a period of time where you don’t do any damage at all.
In saying that, I’ve seen some pretty viable builds on thieves where they don’t use stealth at all… But Its kind of weird to not use something that gives you somewhat of an upper hand.
Also, when playing my thief in WvW, I will never take her into a zerg. She is purely for solo roaming or havoc squads. Most times I prefer to be alone on her. Meanwhile, I feel like my Engineer can do both zerging and solo roaming. That may be a comfort level within my own abilities as a player, but I don’t really see a thief being able to “zerg” as good as other classes.
Whichever class you choose to pick, I hope you have fun!
A good idea is to make a thief, try it out in pvp, and do the same for an engineer.
If I were to choose, I’d go with an Engineer. They’re in my mind, the best class

If you’re doing WvW, roll a thief. You’ll be able to stay invisible and upset the entire opposing team(s).

1. perma-stealth in WvW is cheesy and everyone will hate you.

2. It will be impossible in a month when the balance patch hits.

Engi is getting better and better while Thief is getting nerfed harder and harder. Choice is yours though.

As an addition, I usually go with the zerg, I like huge actions where tons of people die.

Can’t thief do this?

I really don’t mind if people will hate my cheesy build (see: zerk warrior lulz). If it’s effective/efficient on killing, regardless if it’s cookie cutter or no, I’ll use it.

Probably the only thing that worries me are nerfs. Twice I got to 80 and that class was nerfed. Ranger and Warrior, though on Warrior, it really didn’t bother much (I think)

I would say go with engi. It is a complex class to learn and requires a lot of switching/knowledge of your class. It has a high skill ceiling, but is worth it.

Thief is a little easier to get the hang of. There are some incredibly good thieves that know their class and do really well. However more often than not, you find a perma-stealth thieves or D/D backstab thief that are annoying and talentless.

Coming from a Thief, make an Engi. :’(

Given that you favor damage over utility, go Thief.
Given that you favor WvW over PvE, go Thief.
