I bought GW2 when it was first released and played for a week before I had to venture away for school. I have not played since, and have no idea how the game has developed or what came of it. So I figured I would ask a few questions on the games progress.

I loved the WPvP, is it still a major part of the game?

Is the player based still enticed to play at all stages of the game (early, mid, and end game)?

Is it a massive grind to reach the juicy content?

Thanks for all your responses.

WvW is still as bad as ever, PvP has barely moved, PvE is agonising in pain, and the Living Story child birth is so bloody that is may kill its already sick mother.

I hope this answers your questions

WvW is still massively popular. They added a new map called Edge of the Mists, many of the more casual players have drifted over there and WvW proper now has more tactical and strategic play.

Players are still encouraged to play in all open world areas, for instance our last chapter in the Living Story took us to The Grove, Iron Marches, Hoelbrak, Dry Top (a new zone) and Plains of Ashford.

Not really a massive grind at all. There is some level 80 only content (all new Living Story and a few dungeons) and quite a bit that is generally only played by level 80 characters (most dungeons and Fractals), but most of the open world is available according to your level. Without the gear treadmill grind form of endgame that most MMOs offer, it’s easy to jump back in feeling just as powerful as when you left.

WvW is still part of the game for those who choose to participate. Seems a decent way to earn XP and play on a larger group scale.
The rewards and experience still scale with level and zone, rewarding players for returning to old areas or participating in group activities regardless of level. Personally, it makes gameplay a great casual experience. So far as endgame goes, there is the living story which is fun enough however to be honest there’s not much else in the way of engaging endgame in my opinion.
Lastly I have created many alts and have just as much fun leveling through as my main. I don’t get the ‘grind’ type feel at all, and because the content scales you have access to the larger chunk of the content regardless of level.
Welcome back, it’s certainly worth checking out and forming your own opinion. I’ve found it an entertaining casual MMO that I seem to keep coming back to at least once a month.

If you haven’t played since launch it’s probably a good idea to approach it almost like a new game. Don’t delete any characters you have but maybe make a new one so you can start from the beginning and familiarise yourself with the game.

You can do World vs. World and PvP at any level (you’ll be scaled up to level 80 for both) and the rest of the content is accessible fairly easily.

You will hear people complaining about there being a lot of grind in the game, especially on the forum, but that’s mainly for a fairly small pool of items like legendaries and ascended weapons/armor, none of which are required to play.
