Thinking of returning to Guild wars 2
Question 1- What is there to do in guild wars 2 when you have 2 level 80s..one has exotic gear and the other is working on it. am I going about it all wrong and thinking that at level 80 that I am done with the game ?. Besides going for Achievements is their anything else I can do ?. ( Besides map Comp and making a legendary )
The only thing to do in this game is farm. You can farm gold, you can farm achieves, you can farm a character pool (one of every thing … five of everything), you can farm pvp rank/rewards, farm dungeons (this is good way for gold). There is no end game content, there is nothing to do after you have done everything but farm and hope one day fresh content comes out so your not bored for an hour.
Question 2 – How does Crafting work and it seems very confusing and I been playing on and off since launch. Any tips about how to make it a little easier ?. I have yet to get into Crafting and I want too so any tips would be nice !
Crafting is… well there is no short explanation I am willing to type out here. All I can say is Google gw2 crafting, and you will find more info than you know what to do with. Crafting is not difficult once you get the basics, nor is it a profitable thing in this game. Unlike other MMO’s where if you max crafting you stand a chance to make some money back on it or have something worth wile, in gw2 this is not the case.
Question 3- Any Good ways of making Gold. Before mega servers I transfer off my favorite server and went to Tarnish Coast because they had a bigger pve community. And Now with Mega servers that does not matter anymore and I want to come back to my favorite server . Only problem is I need a lot of gems to do it. So any good ways of making gold so that I can come back to my server home ?
You can make gold doing anything you like in this game. you can make 20g in less than 2 hours by doing a collection of speed runs in dungeons. This is just daily rewards, not even counting the sale of loot/drops. You can farm EoTM (especially if your green) and just sell/ah everything, or alternatively salvage everything and sale mats. You can look up flipping on Google and work the trading post, though it helps to have capitol to invest vs starting small and building up. This is an over crowded field so all I can say is GL if you choose that path.
On the reason to change servers, if you are not trading servers for WvW content, there is no reason any more to change servers. WvW is the ONLY thing affected by server affiliation now. Well European vs American servers hold a separation as well, but all PVE content, sPVP dungeons and the like are no longer affected by server status.
Question 4 – Is their any challenging content that maybe I have missed ?. Maybe a world boss that is done less often then the others ?. Maybe a challenge that people do ? ( like making a specific class and playing it a certain way ? )
Nothing in this game is hard. Nothing in this game requires more than auto attack to be honest. They have made this game so stupid easy to appeal to casual players, that if you are looking for challenging content, you should look in a different game. The most challenging world boss to me is the one at ogre wars (wiki it), and it is not a “hard” fight, just good luck getting past the bugs to get him dead.
Over all I only still log in daily to get my daily rewards and say hi to some friends. When HoT is released I am sure I will play more, but I am severely bored with this game and currently have a negative view… maybe some one else who is still in love with GW2 can put a positive spin on this.
I can’t tell you what you can or can’t enjoy but the thing that keeps me in this game is not observing how my gold count gets bigger after every dungeon. I enjoy doing dungeons in my own terms and that includes a non-meta/farming oriented focus. I enjoy the game content as is and sometimes doing silly and pointless stuff is really fun. For example running a high level dungeon in first person or make it so you can only die once per character really spices things up for me. When I test myself like this it really makes the game feel like a game and not a farm. If you’re bored to tears running everything in the fastest possible way, you may want to try out some other method.
I think there are more people in a situation similar to yours, going back to the game and leaving, and giving it another shot, and leaving. I, for one, am wayyy past my 20h/day do-everything-the-game-offers-and-move-on-to-the-next-one times. If you want hardcore mainstream gaming, I cannot really help there, for being a casual, here are my thoughts:
Stay away from players who preach THE WAY TO PLAY THIS GAME, aka, the meta gospel. There are discussion on the forum as to why meta is god, meta is life and we should all embrace it, and lots of harcore gamers think that casuals just do not get it and they should all go play my little pony games. Different expectations, different priorities in game, casuals and hc players do not generally mix well.
What is the most entertaining part of the game for you? Coming from GW1, for example, I severely miss spending hours and hours offline designing builds, and then logging in to test them. That was what kept me playing GW1, and I still sometimes attempt it here, even though it never really works well (weapon bound skills Dx).
Like that cheesy player above me said, a good way to keep yourself entertained is to come up with your own challenges in the game.
After a while, different MMORPGs seem the same (at least to me, after years and years of playing as both a hardcore player and a casual gamer), and what keeps you from getting bored, is how you approach the game, and the people you play with.
Find a group that you actually like gaming with, and start coming up with interesting challenges, like running a dungeon naked, doing single-class runs, getting all your crafting maxed out, working together to equip each of you, one at a time, with ascended gear, do your own versions of speed runs where you try to beat your own times.
Of course, that means you need to be able to trust players you hang out with and that is very difficult to find, but comes with times. And there are plenty of people out there looking for the same things.
Finally, if nothing in the game is funny anymore, move on to a different game/hobby and don’t waste your time : )
If you think the game is all about character progression then I’d say you’re definitely looking at it wrong. That is part of it but it was never the main focus of the game.

It depends on what you mean by things to do. Are you looking for content to play or tangible rewards to work towards? And if it’s the second one does it have to be something that makes your character stronger, or are you also interested in new skins and other cosmetic items, titles etc.?
As I said progression was never intended to be the main focus of this game. It wasn’t designed to be one of those MMOs where you’re always working towards your next level or next equipment tier or whatever and playing the game is simply a way to reach that point.
To me it’s actually the other way around: the point of the game is to play through the content and levelling up and getting new equipment simply enables you to play more of it. Getting to level 80 (and getting exotics) means you can go anywhere and do anything without worrying about being too low level for it. Having multiple level 80’s means you can choose the character best suited to that content, or who you think will make it the most fun (or do it multiple times in different ways).
Since I got my first character to level 80 a few years ago my focus has been on levelling alts of other professions, doing the personal and living story, doing map completion and finding all the ‘extras’ like exploration achievements, jumping puzzles, amusing dialogue etc. completing all the dungeons and doing maps with meta events like Silverwastes and Drytop. I use things like achievements to keep track of what there is to do and what I’ve done, but my focus is on playing through it rather than getting the achievements.
Having said all that there are progression related activities after level 80. The main ones are probably PvP and WvW ranks (although especially in PvP that’s more a reflection of progess you’ve made as a player than something that grants you progress) but there’s also making or finding ascended equipment (which is a long-term goal) and doing Fractals of the Mists, making a legendary and soon the expansion is going to add new ones like this new mastery system.
Question 2 – How does Crafting work and it seems very confusing and I been playing on and off since launch. Any tips about how to make it a little easier ?. I have yet to get into Crafting and I want too so any tips would be nice !
Crafting is confusing. I figured it out (mostly) by saving up loads of materials and experimenting, but that may not be the best way to do it. I’d check Youtube, I’ve heard there’s some really good guides out there, but I don’t know which ones to recommend.

Silverwastes is a good one, the events get you a lot of items (including several guaranteed rares) and chest farming is profitable too. Running dungeons regularly will also get you a lot of gold.
Question 4 – Is their any challenging content that maybe I have missed ?. Maybe a world boss that is done less often then the others ?. Maybe a challenge that people do ? ( like making a specific class and playing it a certain way ? )
It depends on what you consider challenging as it varies between people. PvP and WvW could be good because you’re fighting other people instead of AI so they’re less predictable and (usually) harder to beat.
I actually enjoy the Silverwastes events because many of the bosses (and even the regular mordrem) have special mechanics, and you’re part of a large (mostly) disorganised group which adds it’s own kind of challenge.
Other people like trying to run dungeons with smaller parties, even doing them solo. Or things like doing dungeons using only masterwork gear.
A lot of the Living Story achievements are supposed to be challenging, but I’ve not actually tried them yet so I can’t comment directly.
