Guild Wars 2

Hello everyone! My name is Wyrd and I’m a casual-noob GW2 player. I actually like the game a lot, but I don’t have much time to play it and when I do, I always get a little bit disappointed with the way my PC behaves.
I have a pretty decent CPU (i5-4460, that’s not too bad right?) but my GPU is straight up terrible: it’s almost 10 years old, but I’ve always kept it because I never had enough money to buy a better one.
I would now like to finally upgrade it, but because I play the game so little (and GW2 is the only graphically demanding game that I play) I don’t want to spend a lot of money. In the chart down below they get super good performance with a 3 years old GPU, but then again they have an i7 and the chart is 3yo just as well.

So I’m asking you techies: how much money should I spend to enjoy the game’s graphics at their fullest (or something like that)?

You only really need like a 260x or a 750ti to max the game, maybe even something below those. You can pick up used 7950s for ~$100 so that’s what I’d personally aim for (and was actually planning on getting), but even a used 2 GB 6950 for like $60 would be a good buy.

I have a pretty average rig and ill have you know the difference between the full graphics and medium is not that big a difference. My gf plays on everything medium with character model detail at the best setting and she gets 40-50 on a 4 series amd that is about 10 years old. I have a 7870 and can get 50-80 on full graphics doing pve . On medium its about 90-110 and in wvw easily handles it. turning the reflections to terrain and sky and shadows off you can easily run the game properly.

But the new amd cards launched. Look for R9 270 cards that should go on sale now with the new range coming out. Or wait a month or so for the Readeon range to have all the reviews and benches out. Nvidia has felt a ripple in the force with these new AMD cards.
