Tips for making gold in the world map?
For the next week, you follow the champ train in frostgorge sound.
Ectos will come by the truck load if you do Auric Basin successfully. Salving the rares you get in the treasure rooms will net you maybe a dozen ectos a run on average depending on the kit you use.
If you haven’t got that far yet (prob not if u r just 80), then world bosses, silverwastes or the frostgorge champ train – the map rewards from frostgroege this week are insane!

You don’t need ectoplasm to buy ascended accessories. The WvW Laurel merchant sells them for a cheaper price.
ANet may give it to you.
Doing the daily is always worth it imho. 15-20 minutes to make 2g per day. I also like to hit the ancient wood nodes up, and coral in orr. That always nets me another couple gold.
Honestly play what you enjoy. Champ train, world boss, wvw, you name it. pick your poison for your pastime.
Oh and you need the ectos for accessories in wvw as well. just the rings and amulet which run on badges + laurels
Assuming you have HoT… the pact mastery line gives you access to 6 special vendors around the world daily, buy their mapping materials and you can spam them to receive the map bonus rewards, this week frostgorge sound is extremely profitable

This. If you don’t mind a bit of mindless zerging, this will get you a nice amount of gold via the map bonus rewards. Even if you just do that for ten or twenty minutes a day, it’ll be fairly lucrative.

Amulets and rings yes for laurels and badges of honor. Accessories still cost 40 laurels and 50 ectos just like the normal laurel merchant.

I must be thinking of commendations then.
Just checked. It’s the guild commendation trader. 5 gold and 12 commendations for an accessory.

I find most players don’t have a clue how much gold they are throwing away buy selling to the highest bidder on the TP. Ignorance is bliss for me and others like me who use these players as our farmers.
This way I don’t have to spend all my game time doing Silverwastes or deal with Dungeon/Fractal Speedrunners and play where I want doing activities that aren’t selected for their gold per hour rate.
RIP City of Heroes
Doing the meta event in the silverwastes is pretty lucrative. Make sure to use the LFG tool to find people advertising sw x% where x > 50 to get in good maps that are about to do the meta. Once the event is done, taxi over to a new silverwastes map and do it again.
Of course if you have HoT then the real money-maker is the tarir meta event. Join a big squad that has groups in several instances, then taxi between those instances when they finish the meta and then raid all the grand chests for many many rares. If you get alts involved you can easily get 30+ ectos per run, which equates to about 15-20 g in 45 min. But you can only do that every 2 hrs.
I want to ask, what do you want the gold for?
I’ve found that after buying the first exotic set your set for a long while, until you want to try other builds and need to craft/buy a second or third set.
My advice would be to work on your magic find, because once you get over about 100-120 you start getting good drops anyway and don’t need to buy anything.
Best for that is the SW event chains, or Auric Basin chests, then sakavage everything for the essence of luck.
1 note to remember, save your rates and above till later and check their sell price on TP, sell anything worth a gold or more.
For some options in case you get bored of one
- Dailies net 2G
- Farm some logs, iron, coral, etc for an efficient 30 minutes gets you 10-15 gold
- 30 minutes Karka farm gets you about 3G (1 shell per minute at 10s) + other mats
- SW start to finish takes 1-2 hours and nets 5G
- SW chest rain is about 10-15G per hour
Easy one is spend real money on gems and convert.. That said, run Edge of the Mists and you get chest drops for all the NPC kills.
Plus you get WvW xp, reward tracks AND full level xp book for each WvW level. So helps with alts.
Nice to weave this in with your pve trains
