I would like to know the maths behind those stats

How damage reduction and attack is calculated when you receive income damage and when you hit a creature or a player?

Lets say 2700 armor and 3200 attack

Any clues?

Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Damage

Armor is Defence + Toughness.
Attack is Weapon Damage + Power.

Is it just me, or is attack a completely useless and misguiding statistic? It basically says in the tooltip that it governs damage, but that actually depends on the product of power and weapon damage instead of the sum…

Wait a second…

Damage = weapon damage multiplied by power multiplied by skill power and divided my target’s armor?

That sounds like nonsense:
I have ~1’000 weapon damage, ~2’000 power and the skill multiplier is ~300.
That’s 600’000’000 damage, that’s divided by the target’s armor… say 3’000.
The end result is that I should deal 200’000 damage.

Am I missing something or is that formula incorrect/incomplete?

Your skill coefficient is probably too high. Try 1.0, 0.9, 1.1 as your coefficients?

By skill coefficients I assumed skill’s damage, as in 317 for the long range shot.

You’re possibly thinking of the tooltip damage?

Direct damage is listed on skills’ tooltip, as marked by Damage. Level 80 tooltip damage is given by the following equation:

Tooltip damage = (average weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (level-based Armor value)

The level based armor value when you’re lvl 80 is 2600.

The tooltip damage is actually the result of that equation versus a reference armor value (2600 at lvl 80).

Or as the wiki puts it:
Tooltip damage = (average weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (level-based Armor value)

So how do we find out the “skill-specific coefficient”?

hand’s up Noob question,…. How do you find out your skill-specific coefficent?

Dunno how accurate it is but i reversed the math.

take the tooltip damage, multiply by 2600, divide by power, compare the result to the reported stats of the weapon.

Btw, i think the numbers found for each skill on the wiki are based on naked character with no trait points spent holding a white level 80 weapon. So if anyone feel like crunching the numbers i suspect we could add a entry for coefficients to that.
