Town Clothes
There’s a bunch on the gem store :p
The problem of buying them on the gemstore is not only spending money. It’s also that they don’t feel like you have accomplished anyway, like crafting, or defeating something to get them. I care about appearance, as long as it is something I achieve ingame, Wearing clothes bought with money doesn’t appeal to me.
I would love to see town clothes become craftable… perhaps the recipes can be found in world and tailors, leatherworkers, and armorsmiths can craft various skins for people.
That is actually what I thought they would be, in addition to being bought on the B L T C.

Anet has to make money somehow, would you rather them offer power in the cash shop and let this become pay2win? Besides, you don’t have to spend real money, once you hit 80 its easy enough to make enough money to buy these clothes.
Want special looks from achieving something in crafting? Its called Legendaries.
Defeat something and get some gear for looks? Explorable mode grinding for dungeon currency, seriously with all that grinding having a full set of dungeon gear should be an achievement.
Oh and lets not forget all that level 80 karma gear.
Gem store is a fine source for town clothes. I bought gems with in game gold, and bought the Krytan armor set (which is an armor transmutation, but similar price) without too much difficulty at level 20. It did take some saving up of gems, bought them as I could, but mostly because I didn’t want to go broke while doing this. It did feel like something of an accomplishment, but of course that’s very subjective.
The problem as I see it, however, is the lack of variety of town clothes. You can look like anything you want, as long as it’s a pirate captain or a cook. Or regular town clothes with a different hat.
Divinity’s Reach Town Clothes for human males makes everyone look like rejects from the Mod Squad (prob dating myself on that one…but its true!)
Wouldn’t mind seeing a bbit more variety.

This really is the problem…
I hope they will add more town clothes when they have time.

What ever it is, I just hope they add more town clothes soon. There’s a lot of nice outfits that NPCs walk around in that I’d like to see made available.
I’m hoping they have cool holiday town clothes too. I mean, they have the whole town clothes system in place and gem store selling them, can they really pass up the opportunity for something like Halloween costumes?
Hoping they’ll add in several street rat/commoner/noble clothing so you can dress up according to your story profile… or disregarding your beginnings.
I would like more IC type town clothes, although I’m digging running around in my GW2 tshirt
Having a disposable in-game income is an achievement, whether you get it from working hard out of the game or in the game.

Yeah. Being able to earn them in game would be great. Until then though, I personally make getting them via the Gem Store a personal achievement anyway. That is, I decide what I want a character to have, and I determine that she or he will get it once a certain level is reached. For my Asura, it was the Reading Glasses once she hit level 20. For my Elementalist, it was the Profane Armor set once she reached 20. Of course, she only used a couple of the pieces. The rest is in my bank for when I hit on just the right look for other characters who may be able to use some of them.
