Guild Wars 2

I’ve mostly been playing PvE since I started GW2 2 years ago, and more recently started getting into WvW. Obviously this is very different from how I’m used to playing, but so far I’ve really enjoyed 1v1 battles, especially as a mesmer.

I’ve been working on my skills in 1v1 and 2v2s, but in WvW more often than not people are busy running in a zerg. Even roaming, more often than not I don’t find single roamers looking to duel. In my guild arena there aren’t always people and it’s a more PvE focused guild. So I’m having trouble improving my skills and fighting regular 1v1 battles.

TL:DR, Any ideas how I can train in dueling, as a mesmer?

Probably you could find a custom arena that allows 1 v 1, or another guild with the arena unlocked and members who like to 1 v 1. I can’t say how to find those as I don’t PvP other than one custom arena a friend invited me to, and not often in there.

Maybe you can check the LFG forum below for a guild offering guild hall arena access and enough people that you can find sparring partners often enough to satisfy the training itch.

In Heart of the Mist there are servers for duels, just pull up the server list and see if you can find one you can join.

There places in sPvP to duel, namely in private arena rooms… If you’re guild has an arena, then you also have that option.

I find dueling in WvW to be problematic and at the same time sort of quasi-pay2win. You can find those dueling areas in the BLs and around SMC, just don’t go up and attack SMC. just camp around waiting. Duelers seem to always show up.

In WvW, the reason I say quasi p2w, is because I’ve constantly had people ask me if I was using ascended gear cause they claim to be able to down an exotic player faster than they can me. I admit I’m tanky, but I’m not that tanky. But if you notice things like they claimed to notice, then its probably that the person has that 5% boost in gear stats. Its not really worth it, but that’s 5% you wouldn’t haven’t without it.

Another option is to visit Obsidian Sanctum. People often use the arena in there for duelling.
