Guild Wars 2

So I looked in many places and the only thing I figured out was traits points are supposed to be awarded at certain levels past 30. WELL, my im level 32 and i only have 1 trait points, my friend is level 30 and he has 2 trait points. How is this possible?

Your friend is mistaken (or pulling your leg). Note that the Trait system changed rather drastically back in April 2014.

Trait tiers are opened up as follows:
Adept – LVL 30
Master – LVL 60
Grandmaster – LVL 80

Trait points are awarded as follows:
1 @ 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60 = 6
2 @ 66, 72, 78, 80 = 8
Total of 14.

Obtaining the actual assignable Traits was heavily modified. You can buy them (for gold and skillpoints), or earn them from doing various tasks in the game. Previously , you got all the available Traits as soon as you opened that tier.
